Job description

Key Responsibilities:

1. Blood Typing and Compatibility Testing:

   • Perform blood typing and cross-matching procedures to ensure compatibility between donor blood and recipient patients.
   • Conduct routine and specialized serological testing with a high level of accuracy and precision.

2. Blood Component Preparation and Storage:

   • Prepare blood components (e.g., packed red blood cells, plasma, platelets) for transfusions, adhering to strict protocols and regulatory guidelines.
   • Ensure proper storage and handling of blood products to maintain their integrity.

3. Quality Control and Assurance:

   • Implement and monitor quality control procedures to maintain the highest standards of laboratory testing.
   • Participate in proficiency testing and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

4. Documentation and Record Keeping:

   • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all laboratory procedures, including patient information, test results, and quality control data.
   • Prepare and submit reports as required by regulatory agencies.

5. Compliance and Regulatory Adherence:

   • Stay current with industry trends, regulations, and best practices in transfusion medicine and blood banking.
   • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as accreditation requirements.

6. Collaboration and Communication:

   • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, and laboratory staff, to facilitate effective patient care.
   • Communicate test results and relevant information to medical staff in a clear and timely manner.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or a related field.

- Current certification as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS).

- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a clinical laboratory setting with a focus on transfusion and blood banking.

- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and standards related to blood banking and transfusion medicine.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.

Benefits:

- Pay range of $25/hr - $38/hr (DOE)
