About the Position:
The Sr. Director, Indirect Spend Risk Management position is a new role within Global Procurement, that will have responsibility for creating our overall supplier risk management program. Walmart’s global indirect supply chain is subject to a variety of risks, such as environmental disaster, economic risk, geo-political factors, and supplier financial risk. Technology and data risks appear in more of our supply chain than ever. Given the complexities, this role is essential in helping Walmart understand how we manage, plan and mitigate risks that we face every day across our spend base.
Responsibilities include:
Designs, governs, and directs Walmart’s global indirect spend risk management framework, policies, and procedures.
Aligns the usage of vendors of goods not for resale (GNFR) to best practices in risk management and acts as a strategic partner to the business by providing a program to manage technology, supply, legal and operational threats, as it relates to our commercial and legal relationships with suppliers.
Holds responsibility for identifying and analyzing potential vulnerabilities and opportunities with vendors, utilizing data insights to develop risk mitigation strategies, and consulting on potential risk exposures and mitigation strategies and presenting them to stakeholders and senior leadership.
Leads the planning, development, and execution of a risk management policy, process and procedure that is appropriately gauged to the broad cross-section of global vendors and their inherent risk levels.
Identifies the most impactful threats to Walmart’s indirect spend ecosystem with internal and external stakeholders to manage current or potential exposure.
Partners with Procurement, InfoSec, Legal and Risk to develop contracts that support Walmart’s risk appetite, aptly mitigates any excessive or potential risks that could impact customers, associates, and shareholders, and serves as a partner to Procurement to understand how to assess risk as a component of vendor selection.
Oversees the global integration and implementation of risk mitigation policies that help optimize operations and builds a risk management process that stewards the company throughout the vendor lifecycle. Sr. Director of ISRM will develop the appropriate control environment for the vendor lifecycle, including onboarding, ongoing management, periodic risk updates, and ultimately termination.
Serves as a liaison between Walmart and various regulatory agencies charged with administering rules, regulations, and statutes by serving as the Walmart representative to various regulatory or governing agencies.
Develops the data and systems used to analyze and assign risk ratings and maintain reporting that helps Walmart understand and mitigate risks.
Manages a team of 3-5 supplier risk specialists that partner with segments to understand and manage supplier risks.
Acts as a liaison and strategic partner to Ethics and Compliance and Audit, to ensure that our vendor relationships are held to high standards in compliance with our company values and overarching control environments.
Provides overall direction by analyzing business objectives and customer needs by developing, communicating, building support for, and implementing risk mitigation plans as well as identifying and capitalizing on improvement opportunities.
Creates an environment where associates respect and adhere to company standards of integrity and ethics by integrating these values into all programs and practices.

Advising Procurement to understand how to assess risk as a component of vendor selection, and assisting stakeholders across the business in making strong risk-based decisions.
