We are a leading staffing firm and our clients include some of the biggest companies in the nation. Our client has a need for a Automotive Ergonomist. This is a contract position; however it is not uncommon for assignments to transition into permanent positions with our client companies. Automotive Ergonomist
Job Responsibilities
Your specific duties as a Automotive Ergonomist will include:
- As a Future Program Ergonomist, you will be responsible for the identification and resolution of ergonomic issues which will drive the reduction of injuries and manufacturing inefficiencies on next generation of vehicles including Autonomous and Semi-autonomous vehicles, industry leading SUV's and Trucks and the Corvette (the most affordable world-class sport car on the planet). The ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment will be critical to your success. You will collaborate with other engineering disciplines, such as product design and manufacturing, as well as outside suppliers and UAW representatives.
- Act as the subject matter expert in the field of ergonomics, supporting launch and pre-production manufacturing ergonomic activities for New & Major vehicle programs
- Ensure manufacturing ergonomics requirements are implemented and met on all new vehicle programs.
- Conduct Ergonomic risk analysis of new product designs and establish threshold limit vales.
- Work collaboratively with product designers, manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering and assembly plant personnel, including UAW and non-UAW.
- Manage all ergonomic issues to closure and coordinate follow-up through appropriate engineering team.
- Use 3D Virtual Digital Human Model (DHM) Simulations to determine acceptable manufacturing ergonomic parameters for new vehicle product assembly.
- Support manufacturing operations ergonomics by bringing current plant ergonomics issues to the appropriate design and manufacturing engineers for resolution in order to design out similar ergonomic concerns on future programs.
- Support the development and completion of the annual Ergonomic Business Plan Deployment (BPD) goals and objectives.
- Support ergonomics initiatives/projects as needed.
- Provide New Program Ergonomic issue status and updates to New Vehicle Program and Plant leadership.
- Provide timely written reports and updates on specific ergonomics projects
Automotive Ergonomist
Job Requirements
As a Automotive Ergonomist you must represent our company well by being responsible, punctual and motivated to go above and beyond the call of duty. You must also be highly detail-oriented and organized with excellent analytic and problem-solving abilities. It is also important that you display excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering with course work in ergonomics or degree in ergonomics, human kinetics or related ergonomics degree, or industrial management (Required).
- 1 to 2 years of industrial experience including internships and co-op work (Required).
- 1 year minimum proficiency with ergonomics analytical tools in manufacturing/industry/course work (Required).
- Demonstrated ability to organize, plan and execute manufacturing and/or ergonomic manufacturing projects (Required).
- High level of interpersonal, oral and written communication skills-ability to interact with all levels of the organization. (Required).
- High level of analytical ability and problem solving skills (Required).
- Demonstrated ability to work well with multiple customers at the same time (Required).
- Demonstrated ability to work with the UAW and other unions (Required).
- Ability to travel (Required).
- Automotive experience (Required).
- AutoCAD and CAD/UG working with 3 Dimensional Human Modeling Simulation (JACK or Process Simulate) (Preferred).
- Required Areas of Expertise: Manufacturing
- Required Soft Skills: Interpersonal Skills, Multi Tasking, Oral and Written Communication Skills, Problem Solving Capability, Team Player.
- Required Technical Skills- Assembly Process, Manufacturing Experience and Problem Solving on Manufacturability Problems
