GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
The intent of this description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees on this job. Under the routine supervision of the Electronic Crew Leader, tests and repairs single and polyphase electric meters, totalizing systems, and current transformers to ensure proper calibration. Investigates and reports service irregularities. Requires substantial judgment and analytic ability to perform and record calculations when solving problems and/or performing routine repairs on metering equipment. Tests, installs, and maintains district water meters. Installs and maintains traffic light system.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school or GED, plus specialized schooling and/or on the job education in a specific skill area; e.g. data processing, clerical/administrative, equipment operation, etc., plus 2 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Ability to read and understand documents such as policy manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions in person-to-person and small group situations with customers, clients, general public and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS
Ability to utilize common sense understanding in order to carry out written, oral or diagrammed instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving several known variables in situations of a routine nature.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Knowledge and Abilities
Up to 24 months of education or training beyond the high school level in electrical theory or related technical field. Completion of Classification Competency Training. Thorough knowledge of standard procedures and practices of testing, repairing and maintaining various metering equipment and tools. Basic knowledge of electronics, algebra and trigonometry as well as skills in the use of voltage and ampere meters needed. Mechanical aptitude necessary. Valid driver's license required. First-aid/CPR certification required.
Experience
One to two years meter testing and calibration experience. One to two years traffic signal maintenance and installation experience.
