Overview
We are looking for a highly efficient, detailed driven Assistant Manager of Packaging who thrives in a fast-paced, creative, startup environment. This is a tremendous growth opportunity reporting to the Senior Manager of Package Development . What You’ll Do
In this role you will be responsible for the following areas:
LINE MAINTENANCE
- Manage packaging revisions of all SKUS. You will revise components (primary/ secondary/ tertiary), Bill of Materials, artwork, specifications to support business demands as we continue to expand.
PACKAGE TESTING
- Oversee and manage package testing status for all programs. Follow up on status/ results for component testing – form, fit, function, decoration integrity and testing criterias. Responsible for testing statuses of compatibility, dispensing, decoration adhesion, transit, and all applicable tests associated with new product launches. Evaluate all test results with the packaging team for final release.
INTERNAL PACKAGING SYSTEM UPDATES
- Responsible for the management of Packaging Technical System - updates to technical drawings, packaging specifications. Including fill capacities, min/ max torque requirements, filling process tolerances, and distribution of physical standards to cross functional departments.
- Create Bill of Materials and issue internal BOM revision requests, as needed.
COMMUNICATION SUPPORT
- Maintain package development tracker with weekly updates. Assist team with setting agendas and next steps with supplier meetings.
- Support communication with packaging suppliers to obtain capability, pricing, lead times, specifications, and samples.
- Support solutions to packaging quality issues with Quality, Supply Chain and Suppliers, including troubleshooting components discrepancies and making recommendations to ensure timely and cost effective solutions.
INNOVATION
- Support and help to manage complex projects and deliver innovative packaging solutions within the appropriate timelines.
- Explore and identify new sustainable packaging technologies to improve products’ perceived value, performance, quality and/or cost and profitability.
What We Are Looking For
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, detail-oriented with excellent follow-through abilities, ability to work in a fast paced environment and efficiently work with vendors and internal departments while prioritizing workload.
- Equipment Operation – Computer skills (Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, E-mail), knowledge of CAD Engineering, use of calipers, micrometers, torque gauge, vacuum chamber.
- Education – Required: Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Management, or related field
- 2-3 years industry experience in sourcing and development of packaging components and services in the Beauty/Personal Care industry.
- Solid technical knowledge and aesthetic sense for all cosmetic and skincare packaging.
- Broad knowledge of cosmetic manufacturing with all related expertise (i.e.) prerequisites to manage cost of goods development, filling lines, packaging.
- Ability to travel- Domestic travel, up to 10%
