Heavy Duty Rotator Operator - Driver
Job Overview:
- Report each scheduled day, on-time, ready and able to work; well-groomed and in uniform
- Identify to the appropriate Dispatcher that you are available to work
- Perform vehicle inspection sheet daily, identifying any mechanical issues
- Wear all required safety equipment during work hours
- Report all mechanical issues with regard to truck and trailers at the time of discovery to Terminal Manager, Dispatcher or Mechanical Supervisor
- Responsible to follow all Company and DOT rules and regulations regarding the safe operation of the truck.
- Check fuel level at the end and at the beginning of each shift.
- Check fluid levels at the end and beginning of each shift
- Inspect all supplied tools such as chains, straps, and cables to ensure equipment is in a good and safe condition
- Maintain clean truck inside and out, removing all trash/debris daily
- Wash exterior and interior of truck three (3) times per week
- Communicate with dispatch center, meeting all company and DOT regulations
- Immediately report any issue that restricts the ability to complete the dispatch in a timely manner.
- Follow all company policies and DOT regulations
- Follow all Company procedures, including the removal of drive shafts and axels.
- Respectful communication with all dispatchers, co-workers, and customers
- Complete manifests and tow slips as required by the company, local and state agencies
- Report all incidents to Dispatch or Terminal Management
- Ability to drive and perform duties via interstate for towing, recovery, and/or transport
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications, Education, and Experience
- Possess and maintain a valid Class A driver’s license.
- At least two (2) years of heavy hauling / commercial driving experience
- Pass a background check, drug screen, and driving record check.
- Ability to operate an electric lift, hand truck, and pallet jack.
- Must be able to obtain twic and port passes and a PVDL license.
- Ability to work variable hours which may include weekends, holidays and overtime.
- Strong customer service skills, professional demeanor; ability to communicate calmly and effectively with Dispatch and customers.
- Time management skills; Attention to detail and accuracy when documenting work, hours, and information.
- Basic mechanical skills and ability to use tools.
- Must be able to speak, write and communicate in English
Physical Requirements
The job requires lifting, crawling, pulling, constant use of hands, significant bending and reaching, and climbing. significant physical strength and stamina. Ability to lift and pull at least 50 lbs. good hearing and vision required.
