Job Description Summary
Akoya Biosciences is seeking an experienced and motivated Research Associate to join our Custom Solutions and Support team in Marlborough, MA.
The desired skill-set centers around the ability to perform laboratory tasks as they relate to immunohistochemistry (IHC) experiments, including all experimental and analytical procedures. Successful candidates will be asked to manage laboratory inventory (reagent, instrument and tissue), prepare tissue sections, conduct antibody conjugations and screening, perform imaging experiments, and interpret some data. You will have experience in one or more of the following techniques: laboratory management, antibody purification, antibody conjugation, protein quantification, tissue sectioning, staining fresh frozen and formalin-fixed paraffin embedded (FFPE) tissues, conventional immunohistochemistry (IHC), fluorescence microscopy, image analysis.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Laboratory management, including ordering, maintenance of inventory and reagent stocks, logging and maintaining.
* Laboratory inventory ownership and expense tracking
* Testing, optimization, and validation of antibodies for tissue staining.
* Purification and conjugation of novel antibody targets to CODEX oligo barcodes
* Immunohistochemistry (IHC) and immunofluorescence (IF) experiments on fresh frozen or FFPE tissue sections
* Sectioning of paraffin-embedded, formalin-fixed tissues
* Cryo-sectioning
* Epifluorescence imaging and interpretation of staining results
* Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Skills
* BA or MSc in Life Sciences with minimum 2 years of laboratory experience
* Experience with IHC is preferred.
* Knowledge of chemistry is a

* Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
* Knowledge of Benchling, Quartzy or other laboratory management software is a
* Ability to organize, prioritize and manage.
* Ability to troubleshoot and work independently in a fast paced, team focused.
The hiring range for this position is $63,000 - $82,000 per year, which may factor in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. Our full-time regular positions also include an annual performance-based bonus (or a sales incentive plan) and long-term incentive units (equity) provided as part of our compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
