Requirements
- Bachelors degree in finance or accounting
- 2+ years experience in business finance and/or related experience
- Strong understanding of accounting and taxation principles
- Proficiency in current technology applications to drive efficiency through automation
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills; working knowledge of Excel formulas and functions and able to create data query using Access, SQL, and/or Tableau
- Proven problem-solving skills and ability to react quickly, provide solutions, and resolve issues
- Strong attention to detail, exceptional organizational skills, and ability to prioritize demands and meet deadlines
- Excellent written/verbal communication, interpersonal, and relationship building skills
- Ability to communicate to all levels within the organization with confidence
Typical Duties
- Prepare monthly and quarterly sales tax returns
- Assist with developing the end-to-end process of the sales tax cycle from set-up to filing and auditing
- Work closely with the divisions on sales tax registration and maintenance within the appropriate states and jurisdictions
- Manage and support tax system including:
- Avalara CertCapture Support divisions by uploading, validating, renewal and audit of customer exemption certificates.
- Avalara Avatax Sales and use tax filing and reporting
- Maintain compliance/tax calendar for preparation, processing, and filing of sales and use tax permits, needed for filings
- Audit use tax accrued, create and file use tax for Accounts Payable
- Annual review of state filing requirements by division
- Act as a resource for divisional sales tax audits and filing for sales tax overpayments within the appropriate states and jurisdictions
- Perform monthly reconciliation processes, internal audit requests, sales tax audit information requests and sales tax return reconciliations
- Aid in identification of risk and opportunities to the business as it relates to indirect taxes
- Perform sales and use tax notices research
- Partner with VP of Tax to align on overall strategy and compliance
- Prepare dashboards, management reporting, and other duties as assigned by management
