The Role
Lead CAD Technician – Federal (CAD) works directly with the engineering staff using AutoCAD to create and maintain design and as-built drawings for Inside and Outside telecommunication construction projects while following established standards and procedures. The Technician will also create maps and update network records using ArcGIS.
Required: Active Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance
Location: Herndon, VA - Hybrid position, required to be in the office 2-3 days/week
The Main Responsibilities
-Creates Inside Plant (floor plans and rack elevation) drawings from engineering field notes utilizing AutoCAD and Microsoft Excel (Cable Running Lists)
-Creates Outside Plant (fiber route & detail) drawings from engineering field notes utilizing AutoCAD Map, point data & aerial imagery.
-Produces and maintains ArcView Shapefiles, Google Earth .kml/.kmz files, and spatial database data for internal and Program Office use.
-Researches and collects geographic data for updating and maintaining background and base layer maps.
-Interfaces with Project Managers to ensure budgeted hours and schedules are met

Skills:

-Experience using AutoCAD 2018 or later required
-Experience using Microsoft Excel required
-Experience using ArcMap or spatialNet preferred
-Must be able to work independently, be detailed oriented and possess problem solving skills.
Education and Experience:

-BS, drafting/mapping certificate or equivalent work experience (4+ years)
Security Requirements:

-US Citizenship required
-Active TS/SCI
-Must maintain eligibility requirements for access to classified information (applicants selected will be subject to a government security re-investigation)
Compensation
The starting salary for this role differs based on the employee's primary work location. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual's qualifications.
Location Based Pay Ranges
$68757 - $85946 in these states: AR, ID, KY, LA, ME, MS, NE, SC, and SD.
$72300 - $90525 in these states: AZ, FL, GA, IN, IA, KS, MO, MT, NM, ND, OH, OK, PA, TN, UT, VT, WV, WI, and WY.
$75994 - $94993 in these states: CO, HI, MI, MN, NV, NH, NC, OR, and RI.
$79613 - $99516 in these states: AK, CA, CT, DE, DC, IL, MD, MA, NJ, NY, TX, VA, and WA.
As with the pay range variety that's based on the region of a country, specific offers are determined by various factors such as experience, education, skills, certifications and other business needs.
