This position will work a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite on Campus and Remote.
Under the supervision of the Executive Director of the Career Center, the Senior Associate Director, Career and Professional Development is responsible for applying advanced professional career development concepts, conducting strategic needs assessments of gaps in the career program, and planning and developing program improvements and new career services to help students and recent graduates in career planning, setting career goals, and improving search competencies. Manage the delivery of programs via tabling, service overviews, orientation and special events participation, and specialty topic presentations and ensure that program/service offerings are reaching intended audiences. Research, plan, and develop relationships with potential employers, graduate and professional school admissions representatives, academic departments, and student organizations to meet the career development needs of students and/or recent graduates.
Manage an annual calendar of events, information sessions, campus visits and other events including visits and workshops for UC San Diego alumni and employers on various topics relevant to career planning and internship and full-time hiring of UC San Diego students. Develop, deliver, and assess individual advising sessions and calendared group programs (seminars, panel discussions, small groups, mixers, etc.) addressing self-assessment, career exploration, communications (resumes, cover letters, portfolios, interviews), job/internship search strategy, and industry trends/career field realities.
The Senior Associate Director will be part of the Career Center strategic leadership team supporting the Executive Director of Career and Professional Development of the Career Center. The Senior Associate Director role will serve as active and engaged partner to support the design, planning and implementation of the Career Center goals and KPIs. Duties to include, but not limited to goal setting, partner coordination, fiscal planning, marketing/communication design, event/logistics management, etc. The Senior Associate Director will supervise a team of Associate Directors and ensure the team is meeting established goals as set by the Executive Director of the Career Center. They will offer support and guidance to staff in order to solve problems, provide professional development, and maintain consistency with processes and programs within the unit. The focus of the Associate Director will be pre-grad/grad and PhD.

Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, psychology or related field and a minimum five (5) years of work related to student advising activities in an academic setting or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ph.D. or Doctorate strongly preferred.
Advanced knowledge of career development theories, adult development theory, counseling processes, career coaching techniques, career decision making, learning styles, and job search techniques. Knowledge of career development theory and student development practices, including ethical standards.
Advanced knowledge of needs assessment theory, processes, and practice; workshop and program design. Advanced knowledge to design and implement innovative career development programs that empower students to develop and utilize their self-awareness, professional development skills, and proven resources to identify and pursue their career goals.
