Job Description: As a Veteran Diesel Mechanic, you will play a vital role in ensuring the reliability and optimal performance of our diesel-powered manufacturing equipment. Your expertise, attention to detail, and disciplined work ethic gained from your military experience will be highly valued in this role. Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough inspections and diagnostic tests to identify mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in diesel-powered manufacturing equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks to ensure the equipment operates at peak performance, including oil changes, filter replacements, fluid checks, and component inspections.
- Repair or replace faulty components, such as engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and pneumatic systems.
- Utilize specialized diagnostic tools and equipment to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues efficiently.
- Follow established procedures and guidelines for the safe handling of hazardous materials and waste disposal.
- Maintain accurate records of all repairs, services, and parts used in the repair process.
- Keep up-to-date with advancements in diesel engine technology and attend relevant training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to ensure efficient workflow and meet production goals.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized work area.
Qualifications:
- Military veteran with a strong background in diesel mechanics, gained through military occupational specialties (MOS) such as Motor Transport Operator (88M), Marine Corps Motor Transport (3531), or equivalent.
- Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic, with a deep understanding of diesel engine systems, components, and repair techniques.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and resolve mechanical issues.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and practices related to diesel engine repair.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Excellent attention to detail and time management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within a team.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Working Conditions:
- The Veteran Diesel Mechanic will primarily work in a manufacturing facility, performing repairs and maintenance on diesel-powered equipment.
- May be exposed to various environmental conditions associated with a manufacturing setting.
- Some physical exertion, including lifting heavy equipment and bending, may be required.
- Occasional travel to other company locations may be necessary.
