Job description
Overview
Adjunct Faculty are hired for a specific course or an hourly basis and have no defined commitment other than the expectation that they will teach their courses in a manner consistent with University standards.
Responsibilities Teaching
1.Responsible for all aspects of teaching for assigned courses
a. Deliver content for assigned courses.
b. Supervise students in clinical settings as applicable.
c. Evaluate student progress in lecture, lab, and clinical settings through appropriate evaluation methods
d. Implement and comply with all Touro College policies
2. Curriculum development
a. Complete course report forms at the end of each semester.
3. Education Environment
a. Promote an environment conducive to student learning and be responsive to student needs
b. Report student progress to appropriate personnel
c. Prepare reports on student progress for faculty meetings
d. Provide student support through meeting with students as needed, either in person, online, or via phone.
e. Promote student learning and facilitate a learning environment
Qualifications Education/ Experience - Doctor of Nursing Practice in Nursing required.
- Experience:
- Two years of clinical experience as an APRN
- Previous education experience preferred, Pharm D for pharmacology considered.
- Unencumbered Registered Nurses License Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner preferred
Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities - Strong knowledge base in the specialty area(s)
- A demonstrated ability and desire to teach
- Ability to work collaboratively
- Strong interpersonal skills and the enthusiasm and motivation to contribute to the growth and development of the basic science department of the College
- Ability to apply nursing science in the clinical setting
- Master's degree with a major in nursing
- Doctorate in nursing or a related field preferred
- Current Registered Nurse in Illinois or eligible to obtain
- Demonstrated ability to develop positive and cooperative relationships with students, faculty and colleagues.
- Strong knowledge base in specialty area(s)
- A demonstrated ability and desire to teach

- Ability to apply nursing science in the clinical setting
Certifications - American Academy of Nurse Practitioners preferred
- American Nurses Credentialing Center preferred
