Position Title: Dean of Students
Reports To: Associate Head of School
Status: Exempt, 12-month Residential, Faculty
Position Summary
This position is responsible for upholding community standards, building an inclusive culture in the community, and ensuring all rules and expectations are followed across the community. The position would also include teaching one section aligned with their experience and abilities, one season of afternoon co-curricular, and evening/weekend responsibilities.
Working closely with other members of the Deans' Office and Community Life teams and the broader faculty, the Dean of Students will be responsible for developing and implementing policies, practices, and protocols that serve to support student respect and well-being while ensuring for a safe and healthy community.
Responsibilities and Qualifications
Primary focus of the Dean of Students includes but are not limited to the following:
A candidate would ideally have at least ten years of educational experience in an independent school setting (preferably residential) as well as formal experience in traditional academic communities. The person will also be expected to undertake responsibilities that are importantly associated with a boarding school, such as leading and serving on various committees and contributing to the school's co-curricular and residential programs. Experience and demonstrated success working with diverse student communities is preferred, but not required. A bachelor's degree is required; a master's degree is preferred. Start date for this position is July 1, 2024 .
