Technical Projects Manager

Job description

This person will provide primary oversight of IT and other technical projects undertaken by the college. This person will also assist their supervisor with the development of project management policies and procedures and with the documentation of business processes from business areas throughout the campus.

Education:

-Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Information Technology, or related discipline, OR, equivalent combination of education and work experience which qualifies individual to perform above duties. (Minimum) 

 

Experience:

-Five (5) years’ experience with managing IT and other technical projects . (Minimum)
-Proven history of successful project completion. (Minimum)

-Experience documenting and modeling business processes (Minimum)

-Experience working with project management tools. (Minimum)

-Experience using TeamDynamix (Desired)
-Experience managing projects in an educational setting. (Desired)

 

Abilities and Skills:

-Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form. (Minimum)
-Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and courteously with students, staff, and the public. (Minimum)
-Strong organizational skills. (Minimum)
-Sensitivity to the expectations of staff, faculty, students, and the administration. (Minimum) 
-Commitment to continued professional development. (Minimum)
-Demonstrated sensitivity to diversity and multicultural issues. (Minimum)
-Must possess a valid driver’s license. (Minimum)
-Ability to successfully train students, staff, and faculty in the operation of computer applications and software products. (Minimum)

-ITIL Foundations certified (Desired)

-PMP or similar project management certification (Desired)

Essential unless noted otherwise:

• Setting project goals and developing plans to meet those goals.

• Maintaining project timeframes, budgeting estimates and status reports.

• Coordinating project team members and developing schedules and individual responsibilities.

• Implementing IT strategies that deliver projects on schedule and within budget.

• Using project management tool (TeamDynamix) to track projects, project performance, budget, and schedule adherence.

• Conducting risk assessments for projects. (Marginal)

• Organizing meetings to discuss project goals and progress.

• Assist supervisor with development of processes and procedures for project management.

• Assist supervisor with administration of the project management tool. (Marginal)

Physical Standards:

-Must be capable of lifting and carrying computer hardware and components not to exceed 50lbs. 

 

Special Job Features:

-Occasional travel to other Penn College campuses.
-Some evening and weekend work may be required to meet the needs of Information Technology Services.
-Position is subject to a background check. 

Based on minimum education and experience qualifications the yearly salary range is $70,000 - $75,000.
