Job Summary/Basic Function:

Dickinson College invites applications for the position of Athletic Director. The college seeks a leader of intercollegiate and intramural athletics and recreational programs who will work cooperatively with students, faculty and staff across the college to maintain excellent athletic programs, recruit and retain exceptional coaches, and promote the academic achievement and physical well-being of student-athletes. Reporting to the vice president for student life and dean of students, the athletic director will work to support the overall goals and objectives of the college.

Dickinson College is a premier four-year residential liberal-arts institution chartered in 1783 and widely recognized as a leader in global and sustainability education. We prepare our graduates to face the world's challenges so they are always equipped and eager to collaborate with others to make an impact. The college is located in the historic borough of Carlisle, Pennsylvania.

Dickinson competes in Division III of the NCAA and is a founding member of the Centennial Conference and sponsors 25 varsity sports. The college has recently invested significantly in its athletic facilities including the Durden Athletic Training Center, a 22,000 square-foot facility adjacent to our football and field hockey fields, a 29,000 square-foot addition to the Kline Athletics Center with five squash courts and a 15,000 square-foot Fitness Center outfitted with state-of-the-art exercise equipment. And, the newly renovated Dickinson Park Facility provides a training room, locker rooms and state-of-the-art indoor batting cages for our baseball and softball teams. The intercollegiate program sponsors the following women's sports: basketball, cross country, field hockey, golf, lacrosse, soccer, softball, squash, swimming, tennis, track & field, and volleyball. The men's sports include baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, lacrosse, soccer, squash, swimming, tennis, and track & field.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a deep commitment to the spirit of Division III athletics where student-athletes compete at the highest level of excellence, academic and athletic experiences are integrated into the life of the campus, and the entire campus community benefits from the intercollegiate experience.

The director will be expected to embrace and advance the department's mission and program aiming for the highest levels of sportsmanship, ethical conduct and honesty, including a commitment to increased diversity, inclusion, gender equity and equal opportunity.

The director will be responsible for the leadership and operation of a comprehensive program and will be expected to serve as the department's primary representative in interactions with other leaders on campus and to support the overall mission and objectives of the college. The director will also be expected to guide and mentor staff with an emphasis on open dialogue, strong collaboration and a distinct focus on the best interests of students. In addition, the director will engage with prospective students and families, current students and parents, alumni, donors and other constituents associated with Dickinson to provide information and knowledge about the respective programs and to help procure additional resources to support the department's aspirations.

Essential Functions:

• Ensure a positive student-athlete experience. Supervise a competitive Division III intercollegiate program that fully complies with all applicable NCAA , Centennial Conference and Dickinson College policies and federal/state/local legislation including, but not limited to Title IX of the Higher Education Act.
• Work closely with the Advancement division in support of institutional and departmental fundraising. Build and maintain long-term relationships with athletes, alumni, parents and donors.
• Promote a full commitment to increased diversity, inclusion, gender equity and equal opportunity. Attract, retain, recognize and promote talented individuals who foster an engaged and collaborative environment. Assess and respond appropriately to issues of employee performance. Model behavior that demonstrates a high standard of service incorporating needs and concerns of diverse constituencies into department decision making.
• Lead the development of strategic and long-range goals that support the college's mission. Effectively communicate goals to all members of the department and college. Set objectives and priorities; directs staff's efforts toward goal achievement.
• Develop and manage a fiscally viable department-specific budget that supports the college's mission and effectively manages resources.
• Work closely with the Office of Admissions, oversee coaching staff's recruiting efforts of a diverse group of scholar-athletes who will succeed academically and represent the athletic program with distinction.
• Manage all athletic facilities ensuring safe, equitable and effective use of spaces. Monitor and manage home athletic contests. Oversee sports information, social media and athletic marketing program
