Job Summary/Basic Function:
Dickinson College invites applications for the position of Athletic Director. The college seeks a leader of intercollegiate and intramural athletics and recreational programs who will work cooperatively with students, faculty and staff across the college to maintain excellent athletic programs, recruit and retain exceptional coaches, and promote the academic achievement and physical well-being of student-athletes. Reporting to the vice president for student life and dean of students, the athletic director will work to support the overall goals and objectives of the college.
Dickinson College is a premier four-year residential liberal-arts institution chartered in 1783 and widely recognized as a leader in global and sustainability education. The successful candidate will demonstrate a deep commitment to the spirit of Division III athletics where student-athletes compete at the highest level of excellence, academic and athletic experiences are integrated into the life of the campus, and the entire campus community benefits from the intercollegiate experience.
The director will be expected to embrace and advance the department's mission and program aiming for the highest levels of sportsmanship, ethical conduct and honesty, including a commitment to increased diversity, inclusion, gender equity and equal opportunity.
The director will be responsible for the leadership and operation of a comprehensive program and will be expected to serve as the department's primary representative in interactions with other leaders on campus and to support the overall mission and objectives of the college. The director will also be expected to guide and mentor staff with an emphasis on open dialogue, strong collaboration and a distinct focus on the best interests of students. In addition, the director will engage with prospective students and families, current students and parents, alumni, donors and other constituents associated with Dickinson to provide information and knowledge about the respective programs and to help procure additional resources to support the department's aspirations.
