The Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Minnesota is seeking a full-time academic orthopedic surgeon with a subspecialty interest in sports medicine surgery with a focus on upper extremity disorders in professional athletes at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Professor, on the academic or clinician track.
This role is dually employed by the University of Minnesota and University of Minnesota Physicians. Applicants should also complete an application for this position with the University of Minnesota Physicians.
- The ideal candidate will have expertise in orthopedic sports medicine.
- The search committee is especially interested in candidates who have experience and expertise in upper extremity disorders including shoulder and elbow injuries in professional athletes.
- The ideal candidate will have peer review publications and expertise in clinical outcomes and research that ideally include investigation on disorders of the elbow.
- The search committee is interested in candidates who will bring to their research, teaching, and/or service the perspective that comes from a nontraditional educational background or understanding of the experiences of those underrepresented in medicine.
- Responsibilities include patient care at TRIA Orthopedic facilities and other affiliated sites.
- Additional responsibilities will include participation in professional sports team coverage along with the teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows, clinical practice through the University of Minnesota and M Physicians, and participation in service activities on behalf of the department, the medical school, and your profession.
- Academic time will be used to pursue scholarly work in the candidate's area of specialty/research experience with a goal of developing collaborative or independent, externally funded research.
- Faculty will be active in their national organizations and foster an academic environment for medical students, residents and faculty.
Qualifications - Graduate of an accredited ACGME Orthopedic Surgery residency and sports medicine fellowship training program.
- Reliable clinician with sound judgment and technical expertise
- Thorough and self-motivated

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Exceptional collaboration abilities with partners and staff
- Board eligible/certified
- Licensed or ability to acquire Minnesota Board of Medical Practice Licensure, and DEA certification in the State of Minnesota
- Meet threshold criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and Privileges
- Ability to receive work authorization in the United States from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and maintain legal status according to the requirements of VISA category while in the United States.
