Job description
POSITION SUMMARY
Timber Products Company is a 100+ year old family owned Company headquartered in Oregon, producing hardwood and softwood plywood and particleboard products for sale in the US. This is a new position supporting various mill controllers in the region with month end close accounting and reporting processes.
Depending on experience and capabilities of applicant, the position may be filled by a staff accountant (Accountant I) or a senior accountant (Accountant II)
MAJOR TASKS - Prepare and post monthly journal entries to support multiple regional mill controllers.
- Prepare monthly account reconciliations as assigned.
- Research accounting issues and work across divisions to improve processes.
- Support Division Controllers, Accounts Payable and Purchasing team with coding invoices.
- Prepare fixed assets reconciliation and record depreciation expense.
- Work with Division Controllers to update Fixed asset system for assets and leases.
- Assist with physical inventory and inventory reconciliation.
- Work with mill controllers to complete annual personal property tax returns.
- Prepare process documents and manage electronic Process Documentation Library.
Assists with the annual audit and year-end activities.
SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.
- Associate Degree and practical work experience may substitute for degree.
- ERP experience required. The company uses Microsoft D365 System.
- Prior experience with accrual accounting required.
- Attention to detail and the ability to conduct work in a timely, accurate and organized manner.
- Intermediate Excel skills required, including v-lookup and pivot table functions.
- Ability to communicate professionally (verbally and in writing).
- Ability to problem solve, research discrepancies, and troubleshoot roadblocks.
- Must have the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced high volume environment.
