WHO ARE WE? We are a higher end, fine-dining restaurant within the Island Dunes Country Club, with classy yet demanding customers expecting top-notch food and service. We are located directly on the Intracoastal with amazing waterfront sunset views. We are generally full by reservation every night. Our customers dine for 90 minutes to 2 hours. It's a relaxed, slow-paced environment, but with service hitting a full pace and sometimes a bit frenetic around 6:30pm, tapering off by 7:30. We are also open a few days a week for lunch. We are a family operation, taking over the former Pietro's on the River, and while we run a tight operation with corporate rules and protocols, we also operate like a big family. OVERVIEW The role of the Front of House Manager is to assist the GM in managing the restaurant and helping to set the pace for the performance of the restaurant. The ideal candidate must possess in-depth knowledge about superior customer relation and management skills. Excellent communication is essential to build a rapport with guests and ability to lead a team.
- Customer service skills – working with customers is a key part of a FOH Manager's position; the ability to remain professional at all times is vital to this role.
- Minimum 3 years experience as a Manager in a fine dining restaurant, bar or lounge environment.
- Excellent phone, computer skills and communication skills - must be able to communicate, read and write in English fluently and in a professional manner and able to stand on your feet for long periods of time.
- Must be a team player.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to motivate a team to meet high standards.
- A good grasp of numeracy is important to carry out tasks such as end of day cash outs and support staff tip outs.
- Understanding of food safety standards and the ability to maintain cleanliness in all areas of the restaurant.
- A passion for guest service and the ability to consistently meet restaurant standards.
- ServSafe/Food Handler’s Certification a plus.
Duties & Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Collaborate with General Manager to ensure the achievement of restaurant goals in a positive, team-oriented environment.
- Train and develop team members, and conduct performance feedback sessions.
- Schedule shifts in accordance with company standards and enforce policies and procedures to ensure the success of the team.
- Maintain food safety standards, ensuring that all areas of the restaurant remain impeccably clean.
- Serve as an ambassador to the restaurant and ensure that all guests leave happy with an exceptional experience that meets the restaurants standards.
- Manage the front desk, including Yelp reservation management.
- Conduct daily walkthroughs to ensure that the entire space is in working order and nothing needs to be repaired.
- Ensure that the ambiance is up to standard, lighting is correct and music and temperature is perfect.
- Oversee the bartending team to ensure drinks are being made and served in a timely manner.
- Ensure that daily side work is being completed effectively.
- Assist with inventory needs.
- Hire staff according to our desired needs with approval by the GM.
- Be able to work in a fast paced and busy bar and restaurant environment.
- Ensure staff are in proper uniform.
- Conduct walk-through of restaurant at beginning and end of shift, and prepare restaurant for opening and closing each night.
- Be a team leader and motivator for the FOH team.
- Work with GM to ensure that the codes of conduct are followed and that nobody is in violation of our handbook. If so, progressive discipline must ensue.
- This position regularly requires long hours and a schedule that fluctuates based on business needs.
- Managerial candidates must show proficiency with Toast, Yelp Table Management or similar and 7Shifts scheduling or similar. Experience with these platforms is a plus.
