Position Summary:

Bechtel Global Corporation is hiring a full-time Assistant Corporate Controller, based in Reston, VA. This is a high visibility, high impact position which reports to the Corporate Controller. The Corporate Controller team provides overall guidance and expertise on financial accounting and related matters, including responsibility for the development and implementation of accounting policy, oversight of accounting operations, technical accounting, financial reporting, and management/financial control activities. This position qualifies for part-time telework, with an expectation of 2-3 days per week in the Reston office.

The Assistant Corporate Controller will be the primary individual responsible for leading the Controller’s organization through the routine close process for monthly, quarterly and annual reporting; certain technical accounting matters; preparing financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles; liaising with Bechtel Business Services (BBS) financial service centers to identify and resolve accounting issues; and liaising with the Company’s auditors. The candidate must have the ability to maintain a sense of urgency focusing on critical issues, possess excellent project management skills, be detail oriented and demonstrate strong leadership.

Responsibilities:

• Manages the monthly, quarterly and annual close process.
• Reviews internal management deliverables, project analyses and journal entries.
• Assists with managing the Company’s relationship with external auditors; answers questions and liaises support requests throughout the Company.
• Prepares annual financial statements, related disclosures, and work papers to support audits of various legal entities.
• Reviews various policies, summaries, and support to verify accuracy and conformance with specific functional, corporate, contract, or professional accounting requirements.
• Reconciles financial reports and data with other records on file; points out inconsistencies and errors and recommends actions to resolve.
• Manages a team, but also acts as an individual preparer for certain complex accounting issues.
• Reviews existing Controller systems and processes, identifies and recommends areas for process improvement and automation.

Qualifications and Skills:

Basic Qualifications:

• Undergraduate degree in Accounting with at least 7 years relevant experience.
• US Certified Public Accountant or international equivalent.

Additional Qualifications:

• Public Accounting experience.
• Experience leading teams and project managing financial close processes.
• Strong knowledge of internal controls concepts and the ability to develop and interpret accounting procedures.
• Strong organizational skills and an ability to simultaneously handle numerous tasks of varying complexity.
• Ability to manage a team while also working independently through complex issues.
• Ability to analyze financial data, provide early recognition of potential problems and provide efficient and effective solutions.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

• Prior experience with large, multinational corporate consolidations and reporting.
• Prior “Big 4” public accounting experience.
• Prior experience within the Engineering & Construction industry.
• Prior experience with cost-to-cost accounting and estimates at completion.
