Manager of Procurement

Overview: As Manager of Procurement for John Anthony Wine and Spirits (JAWS), you will play a pivotal role in sourcing, purchasing, and managing the supply chain of wine-related products and materials. You will collaborate with suppliers, negotiate contracts, and ensure the timely delivery of high-quality goods to support the production and distribution of wine. This position requires a strong understanding of the wine industry, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to manage multiple vendor relationships effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Sourcing and Supplier Management:
- Identify and evaluate potential suppliers of packaging materials including labels, closures, cans and glass as well as any other necessary inputs for wine production.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, ensuring high-quality products and competitive pricing.
- Conduct regular assessments of supplier performance and address any issues to maintain optimal supply chain efficiency.

2. Contract Negotiation:
- Negotiate favorable terms and contracts with suppliers, including pricing, delivery schedules, and quality standards.
- Review and analyze contract terms to ensure compliance and mitigate risks for the company.
- Collaborate with legal and finance teams to finalize contracts and agreements.

3. Inventory Management:
- Monitor inventory levels of materials and products to prevent stockouts or excess inventory by writing and executing purchase orders on a timely basis.
- Participate in regular cross-functional development meetings to ensure timelines are clear and deliverables are secured accordingly to facilitate efficient ordering of materials and bottling of wine
- Work closely with Winemaking, Marketing, Finance and Sales teams to monitor demand and optimize inventory levels.
- Implement inventory control measures to minimize waste and ensure product freshness.

4. Cost Management:
- Develop and execute strategies to reduce procurement costs while maintaining product quality and supplier relationships.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings through process improvements, supplier consolidation, and alternative sourcing options.

5. Compliance and Quality Assurance:
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards for wine production and sourcing.
- Conduct quality inspections of incoming materials and products to ensure quality standards.
- Work with suppliers to address quality issues and implement corrective actions as needed.

6. Market Research and Analysis:
- Stay informed about market trends, industry developments, and competitor activities in the wine industry.
- Conduct market research to identify new suppliers, products, and opportunities for innovation.
- Analyze pricing trends and market dynamics to inform procurement decisions and strategies.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, or related field; MBA or relevant certification is a plus.
- Proven experience in procurement, supply chain management, or purchasing roles in the wine industry.
- Strong negotiation skills and ability to build and maintain effective supplier relationships.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Knowledge of wine production processes, industry regulations, and quality standards.
- Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
