Job description

Job Description and Duties

Candidates must perform the following functions with or without reasonable accommodations.

Under the general direction of an Assistant Division Chief, State Accounting and Reporting Division, the Financial Accountant IV in the Bureau of State Government Reporting (SGR) is responsible for the administrative and technical oversight of statewide financial accounting and reporting in accordance with the State’s Budgetary/Legal basis or accounting and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), including the production of the Budgetary/Legal Basis Annual Report, production of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR), implementation of new Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) statements, and support for the SCO’s successful transition to the Financial Information System for California (FI$Cal).

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

• Experience in implementing new accounting pronouncements.

• Ability to work under pressure, multi-task, and lead others effectively.

• Ability to analyze existing business processes and procedures, draw sound conclusions, and make recommendations for improvement.

• Demonstrate consistent good judgment in making technical accounting, operational, and administrative decisions.

• Experience in accounting and reporting for governmental Pensions and Other Postemployment Benefits (OPEB).

• Advanced accounting degree

• Certified Public Accountant
