Position: IT Desktop & Applications Engineer
Location: Oakland, CA 94607
Contract to Hire
Pay Rate: $55-70/hour (Negotiable)
Competitive Compensation
Hybrid - once a week or every other week, remote, also okay with a full remote (on the contract duration), expected one in the office for FT

MANAGER'S NOTES:
2 Head Count
Duration: 6 months contract (since it's a big project coming up, this person will come in and assist with the project, can extend for another 1-2 months)
Possibility for a perm based on performance of the project and candidate
They will kick off migrating their office 2016 to office 365 (reason for the need)
This person will take the lead on this project
Must have understanding with testing and implementation and support on the end (documentation for future upgrades from the system admin level)
Criteria:
Experience with application testing - compatibility testing
Experience with deployment tool - MS Systems Center, Intune, Citrix (for the deployment phase)
Knowledge of policies available for O365
Powershell scripting, exposure to automate repetitive side
Background/understanding with virtual machine such as VMware
Engineer level understanding on how to configure the application, set up policies
Job Description;
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Planning, testing and deployment of Microsoft Office 365 in an Enterprise environment.
- Testing compatibility of internal business applications (iManage, Litera, Kofax, Thompson Reuters)
- Collaborate with other developers and software architects, including vendors & contractors (when appropriate), to determine optimal solutions.
- Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of Office 365 applications and features.
- Provide guidance on best practices and ensure that the implementation meets security, compliance, and data governance requirements.
- Develop system test plans, ensure software quality assurance standards are achieved and validate that business goals are accomplished.
- Communicate project goals, progress, and expectations to stakeholders at all levels.
- Maintain detailed project documentation, including status reports, meeting minutes, and project timelines.
- Provide regular updates to senior management on project progress, challenges, and milestones achieved.
- Report project/task status to the Applications/Desktop Manager, Sr. Manager or CIO on a weekly basis (at minimum).
Skills
- Proven experience managing Office 365 implementation projects from initiation to completion.
- Strong understanding of Office 365 applications, including SharePoint, Teams, Exchange, and OneDrive.
- Familiarity with security and compliance considerations in Office 365.
- Exceptional knowledge and experience with Windows Server 2016/2019, Server Monitoring and Administration, Windows 10/11, Group Policies, and Active Directory.
- Experience with SCCM/MECM or Intune.
- Advance working knowledge of PowerShell scripting
- Capable of learning large, complex applications in a short time frame.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and possess creative problem-solving skills.
- Legal applications and strong iManage Document Management experience highly desired.
Education and/ Experience:
- BS/BA degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
- 5+ years of related experience.
