Purpose
This position is responsible for intermediate-level Engineering support with specific expertise in one or more areas, and project management within the multi-disciplined Operations Engineering department. The role will provide expertise based on education and experience for all generation assets as part of the Operations Engineering group to ensure the long-term profitability and safety of the assets.
Accountabilities
React to changes in work assignments and priority and undertake all other tasks as assigned.
Execute intermediate projects of medium scope and complexity related to the inspection, upgrade, repair, replacement or retrofit of wind power generation equipment, specifically blades and other composite components.
Effectively communicate project status, risks and opportunities, and cost / schedule performance to stakeholders.
Manage external partners, including service providers, contractors, consultants, equipment vendors, and parts suppliers as required to meet project requirements.
Provide project planning services for technology-based projects including preparing; (1) scope of work definition, (2) budget estimating, and (3) project scheduling for the purpose of project justification and obtaining project approval.
Prepare, support, update, and maintain various project documents including business cases, project justification summaries, project charters, project plans, project status reports, tracking of project milestones and financial deadlines, project schedules, technical memos, requests for information, project completion reports, etc.
Apply engineering knowledge and expertise, with a low to moderate level of guidance and direction, for the safe and reliable operation and maintenance of the wind generation portfolio of Liberty Renewables, specifically blades and composites.
Apply a variety of standard problem-solving techniques for resolving technical issues associated with the operation, maintenance and repair of various power generation assets.
Apply sound technical judgement in decision making, utilizing the collection, analysis, and interpretation of data from various internal and external sources.
Critically review, analyze, interpret and summarize a variety of technical reports and documentation related to wind generation assets and systems.
Provide engineering technical guidance and assistance to junior professionals within the Operations Engineering Dept or lead role in a multi-disciplined technical case.
User-level knowledge and experience with document management systems (e.g. SharePoint), procedures, filing systems.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
Minimum of 5+ years of previous experience in a similar capacity
Certification in Project Management (PMI) considered an asset
Professional Engineering Designation where required
