Job description

DESCRIPTION

Want to help build Amazon’s next generation of businesses? The Rapid & Rural Logistics (R2L) team handles the most ambitious and challenging fulfillment problems. Our software helps enable Sub Same Day delivery, Rural Super Rural delivery, and more.

Our team builds software that empower our product managers and operations managers to offer the most innovative of Amazon’s services, such as scheduled delivery, temperature-controlled goods, and white glove delivery service to name a few. Supply chain, warehouse management, and delivery operations is where the magic takes place at Amazon, transforming a “buy now” click on our website into an on-time delivery and a happy customer. We do this at lightning speed, thanks to the software that you’ll help us build. While Amazon is large, we operate like a start-up within Amazon, opting for smaller sprints and continuous deployments.

We’re looking for a full stack engineer to guide our team in creating new applications from scratch. This developer will lead the design and development of new systems that allow our business to continue to scale globally and offer our customers world class service at break-neck speeds. You’ll be the key technical stakeholder working with Product Managers and end-users to define world class tools. You can utilize the full breadth of AWS products and services to build scalable low-maintenance applications. You’ll own the decisions regarding the data store, application layer, and front-end. You will also build back-end services to help automate systems.

Key job responsibilities
In this role you will …
· Help define the system architecture and help shape the user experience.
· Take responsibility for technical problem solving, creatively meeting product objectives, and developing best practices.
· Design and develop AWS technology powered web tools.
· Build globally scoped applications.
· Mentor and collaborate with other developers.
· Design and build microservices.

A day in the life
· The bulk of an average day is centered around designing and building features to enhance existing applications.

Otherwise other elements of a day that happen are:
· Working on ad-hoc requests and bug fixes.
· Participating in doc reviews and demos with product managers and stakeholders.
· Supporting and delegating tickets while on-call.
· Team meetings and presentations/learning sessions.
· Designing and building brand-new applications as a team.

About the team
This team stays close to our customers and strives to always build and design our tech with them in mind with a focus on end-to-end user experience. We also pride ourselves on having an open and ongoing dialogue with our stakeholders and customers so we can build trust and innovate on their behalf. Someone who joins this team will be engaged with engineers and stakeholders dedicated to supporting Sub Same Day delivery and other businesses; focusing on delivery optimization and emerging business needs with a balance of scrappy vs long term supported solutions.
