Beef 'n Bun is located in El Cajon and we are currently searching for serious minded, ambitious and motivated Line Cook staff to join our highly passionate team. This full-time position will receive hands-on experience from day one with our eye on your ability to grow in your role and accept more responsibility. Duties and Responsibilities:
A Line Cook prepares food using our recipes and helps keep the kitchen running smoothly. Some of the key duties and responsibilities include:
Memorize and comprehend menu items and their recipes
Assisting with stocking and setting up the kitchen stations
Preparing food, including cleaning and cutting the ingredients and cooking menu items
Prepare all customer orders in a friendly, timely and efficient manner with an eye on portion control and quality of orders being sent out to customers
Operate standard kitchen equipment safely
Adhere to all sanitation and food handling codes according to federal, state, local and company regulations
Clean and maintain kitchen equipment and utensils
Sweep and mop floors, wash dishes, stock the line and follow kitchen cleaning guidelines
Physical Requirements
Must lift and/or move up to 50 pounds frequently
Bending, stooping, kneeling required frequently
Climbing ladders occasionally
Routine standing for duration of shift (up to 8 hours)
Ability to work varied hours and days including nights, weekends and holidays as needed
Assumes 100% responsibility for quality of menu items served
Knows and complies consistently with our standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, policies and procedures
Stocks and maintains sufficient levels of food products at line stations to assure smooth service
Handles, stores and rotates all food products properly
Assists in all shared kitchen assignments during off-peak periods as needed
Opens or closes the kitchen properly and follows the closing checklists
Attends all scheduled employee meetings and brings suggestions for improvement
Performs other related duties as assigned by the Manager
Qualifications
Prefer at least 1 year experience in a similar capacity
Must wear a headset and uniform pieces
Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively with other team members and management
Patient with an ability to stay positive under pressure
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
