Summary: The Laboratory Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring the effective management, operation, and safety of laboratory facilities. This position involves coordinating activities, providing technical support, and overseeing staff to maintain a high standard of performance and compliance.
Responsibilities: - Coordinate and manage activities and programs within the laboratory facility, maintaining comprehensive records as needed.
- Provide technical support for laboratory equipment, supplies, and data analysis tools.
- Oversee the safety and security of laboratory facilities, staying current on protocols, regulations, standards, and safety procedures.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures to uphold a safe working environment.
- Supervise personnel functions, including interviewing, selecting, training, evaluating performance, and developing staff.
- Organize staff meetings, coordinate continuing education training, and facilitate in-services for staff.
- Provide guidance on operational activities and ensure adherence to government, industry, or institutional regulatory guidelines.
- Manage inventory, including the selection, purchasing, storing, and allocation of laboratory equipment, supplies, and data analysis tools.
- Take responsibility for laboratory equipment, supplies, and data analysis tools by inspecting, maintaining, and troubleshooting.
- Perform and document routine advanced quality assurance and preventive maintenance.
- Manage financial activities and reports related to the laboratory, actively contributing to the preparation of budget estimates.
- Perform various technical duties in support of research activities.
- Collaborate with and serve as a liaison to agencies, administrators, departments, and stakeholders.
- Represent senior administration in the lab environment.
- Monitor, research, and disseminate information regarding changes in regulatory guidelines, trends, and developments in techniques and technology relevant to the field.
- Maintain and update protocol manuals to ensure compliance with industry standards.
