Minimum Requirements
BA/BS Degree plus at least six years of relevant experience.
Extensive experience with instructional design,
5-7 years of relevant experience.
Deep knowledge of course design and pedagogy at the adult learner level.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Experience in using Zoom, Canvas, Qualtrics, and other learning management systems is preferred.
Knowledge of video editing software is preferred.

Preferred Requirements
Master's degree preferred.
Willingness to learn how to use video editing software is required.
Advanced knowledge of Zoom, Qualtrics, Canvas, and other learning management systems is a plus.
A high level of technical acumen is required to explore and implement new tools and technologies.

Job Description:
Reporting to the Assistant Dean of Carlson Executive Education, this role will partner in leading the design and planning of the learning initiatives with the Carlson Executive Education Business Development team and collaborating faculty at Carlson Executive Executive Education. The Director of Instructional Design & Program Development is responsible for assisting in creating and developing Carlson’s Executive Education open courses and custom programs. The Director of Instructional Design & Program Development will help lead, manage, and direct the planning, creation, design, and development of Carlson Executive Education’s open and custom programs. In addition, this role will support the Assistant Dean in determining how Carlson Executive Education can continue to innovate in providing learning solutions to our executive clients.

Product and Business Development (50%)
Partner with Executive Education open and custom leaders at all stages of the product and service development process from conception through final course design, delivery, and evaluation.
Oversee the development of curriculum and learning materials for both open and custom executive education programs. This should include curriculum design, content creation, and instructional materials development. In addition, seek to embed inclusive excellence throughout the curriculum.
When working on custom executive education programs, tailoring programs to meet individual clients' unique needs and requirements is particularly important. This might involve customizing content, delivery methods, and learning objectives.
Engage in a continual assessment process of school and university capabilities and faculty expertise in collaboration with the Assistant Dean of Executive Education, identifying areas of overlap with identified marketplace needs and sources of competitive differentiation and advantage.
Engage faculty within their research, expertise, and interest domains to match their expertise with marketplace opportunities and identify customer needs.
Evaluate the executive education landscape and market trends to develop products that highlight and enhance the Carlson School’s competitive advantage.
Partner with Assistant Dean and Executive Education open and custom leaders to effectively communicate and educate staff, faculty, clients, and others about product, service strategies, and market trends.
Initiate and lead customer insight initiatives that include engaging organizations across Board-Level leaders, CEO and C-level leaders, business executives, mid-level managers, and operational staff.
Develop and lead education and support of program management teams deploying offerings, including capturing and communicating best practices. Collaborate with the Assistant Dean of Executive Education as needed.
Participate in local academic and industry events to stay abreast of the latest trends and business needs for ongoing product development.
Develop content and participate in conversations to drive awareness and engage the community around the offerings.
Partner with business leaders and marketing to showcase success stories or case studies of clients who have benefited from the executive education programs, demonstrating the positive impact of the services offered.

Client Service & Key Account Management (20%)
Actively engage with clients during the program development process, seeking their input and feedback to ensure the program aligns with their goals and requirements.
In partnership with the Assistant Dean of Executive Education, create a product/service strategy within Executive Education that provides a seamless executive experience for our clients.
Facilitate and promote an environment that supports diversity and demonstrates a commitment to the welfare and satisfaction of executive education staff.
Partner with team members to facilitate sales and client involvement. Responsible for building and maintaining strong client relationships by ensuring a standard service approach across the unit. This includes developing a systematic process to meet and understand client needs, address their concerns, and ensure high client satisfaction throughout the program lifecycle.
In partnership with the Assistant Dean of Executive Education and the open and custom leaders to create a Key Account Management (KAM) strategy. This includes the selection of key accounts and creating a process that includes consistent outreach and offering of value to these accounts. In addition, the Director would work closely with the Assistant Dean and the open and custom leaders to develop an account management engagement plan that is forward-thinking in future program design and offerings.

Process Improvement (20%)
Provide leadership in developing systems that improve and standardize the sales, product development, and operational delivery processes.
Developing assessment and evaluation strategies to measure the effectiveness of executive education programs; taking Executive Education beyond post-program survey results.
Create metrics to determine the department’s effectiveness, such as metrics to monitor the effectiveness of the delivery and the cost/effort ratios to refine future engagements.
Collaborate with internal business partners and external clients to highlight product advantages and address product gaps.
Ensure the highest quality standards in program delivery, including content accuracy, instructional design excellence, and adherence to industry best practices.
Utilize Asana and other team tools and effective project management skills to help ensure that programs are delivered on time and within budget. This may involve managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Stay up-to-date with emerging educational technologies; incorporate these technologies into program design to enhance the learning experience.

Communication & Collaboration (10%)
Regularly report progress and program development updates to the Assistant Dean and other relevant stakeholders.
Build and maintain strong collaborative partnerships with the team and other key stakeholders such as faculty members, Institutional Advancement, and the MBA office. This role should work closely with these teams to ensure a seamless and effective program development process and ensure we add value within CSOM.
