THIS IS A TEMPORARY POSITION (8 MONTHS OR LESS) - PAYING $18-21 PER HOUR

Description of Job


Maintain property inside Chatfield State Park at Chatfield Planting Base, including mowing, weed control, road maintenance, and general up-keep. Maintain buildings at the Planting Base and at 6060 Broadway, including regular cleaning, weekly weir box checks, monthly fire extinguisher and eye wash station checks.


Assist with stocking of lakes, ponds and reservoirs from the Chatfield Planting Base with Medium-Duty trucks. Assist with the stocking or transport of fish from in-state and out of state hatcheries. Regularly assist with hauling fish with 5-tank Heavy-Duty straight truck and 6-tank tractor-trailer. Will need to take occasional overnight trips that will require long days. Feed fish, clean raceways and maintain fish health by treating with chemicals for disease. Monitor water quality. Conduct water quality analysis on the unit and in the field when stocking fish into lakes and streams. Perform disinfection procedures on equipment, fish transport vehicles, hatchery building and production areas. Adhere to guidelines of the hatchery safety manual and stocking SOP's.


Perform basic maintenance on equipment and vehicles. Operation of power tools, light construction fabrication and repairs. Daily record keeping: track hours worked on activity reports, fish mortality, chemicals used, track fish feed consumption. Maintenance records on vehicles, pre and post trip inspections when transporting fish. Assist in wild and domestic fish spawning operations as needed. Possibly assist with angler survey data input.


Aid in conducting monthly water tests for TDS and TSS for hatchery discharge water samples from around the state.


Two of the medium duty trucks do not require a CDL, but the two heavy duty trucks require a CDL. Preference and higher pay may be given to applicants with a CDL, but it is not necessary. Pay will also depend on experience and education.



Note:

This position is up to 40 hours per week and up to eight months in duration.
