Company Description: The Tax Help program at Foundation Communities is seeking a team of enthusiastic, motivated individuals who can help us provide high-quality tax return preparation at our tax sites during the 2024 tax filing season. Tax team members make a tremendous impact in the Austin community while gaining meaningful non-profit experience working for a well-respected organization.
We are hiring for
two (2) positions for our tax site at the
Round Rock Public Library .
Schedule: Monday through Thursday 3:30pm – 8:30pm and Saturday 9:00am – 5:30pm
Temporary Position: January 2024 – April 2024
First Position - Intake Coordinator (bilingual preferred)
Greet clients, conduct eligibility screenings, and assist taxpayers in assembling all required information and documents. This is a great opportunity for people looking for temporary work, a second job, or an entry-level position into a dynamic non-profit organization.
Primary Duties/ Responsibilities - Conduct intake interviews with clients, which include validating clients’ identities, screening for eligibility, reviewing client documents, and ensuring clients are ready to proceed in the tax preparation process
- Serve as a resource for clients by answering questions and providing high quality customer service
- Support site managers with operations tasks as needed
- Protect client confidentiality
- Complete all specified paid training and tax certifications (No previous tax experience is required, and support is provided throughout the training period)
Second Position - Site Manager (bilingual preferred)
Oversee operations at our seasonal tax center locations, providing support and guidance to volunteer tax preparers, and ensuring sites are operating efficiently.
Primary Duties/ Responsibilities - Ensure efficient operations of tax site by managing opening and closing procedures, maintaining the site space according to the site host’s guidelines, and resolving client and volunteer conflicts
- Provide support, guidance, and ongoing training to volunteer tax preparers at the site
- Prepare, review, and transmit tax returns to the IRS
- Process acknowledgements of returns electronically transmitted, and work with the Transmitting office to resolve rejected returns and re-transmit them
- Effectively use email, scanning software, Google Drive, and other technology in site operations
- Protect client confidentiality
- Complete all specified paid training and tax certifications (No previous tax experience is required, and support is provided throughout the training period)
Requirements for Both Positions Minimum Requirements - Excellent communication and customer service with strong attention to detail
- Prior experience working in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency with technology and knowledge of computer operations and software
- Written and verbal proficiency in English
Preferred Requirements - Ability to communicate in multiple languages both written and verbal proficiently (English and Spanish and/or Arabic and/or American Sign Language)
Working Conditions General office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require standing and walking for up to 10% of the time. The working environment is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available.
Physical Requirements Requires sitting or standing at a desk for long periods of time indoors. Eye and hand coordination for viewing of monitor screen along with high volume of keyboard use.
Compensation Intake Coordinator $17.00 - $18.00/hour
Site Manager $19.00 - $20.00/hour
