As a Social Work Supervisor , for the Enhanced Family Foster Care Planner. Y ou will play an important role in the lives of the people we support. You will oversee a unit of case planners providing services and overseeing service delivery to families in the NYC foster care system. Assumes a teaching role as to the purpose, structure, and function of the Agency, together with on-going and new methods of sound Social Work practices. Involves a readiness to listen and an ability to apply the benefits of prior experience to new situations. Strives to encourage all supervisees to develop a sense of awareness of their own responsibility to share in decision making and case progression.
Position Responsibilities:
- To provide, through regular weekly Supervisory Conferences, on-going direction, training, and guidance to Case Workers in fulfilling their responsibilities.*
- To monitor and ensure that permanency goal has been established for each and every child and to monitor progress in the achievement of that goal.*
- To orient new Case Workers to the Agency and their responsibilities.*
- To orient new Parent Advocates to the Agency and their responsibilities.*
- To ensure the timely implementation of clinical, academic, and other recommendations.*
- To ensure Case Workers' delivery of service in accord with the standards promulgated by ACS and NYSDSS.*
- To ensure the Agency's accountability as related to the above via Progress Notes, FASP'S, etc.*
- To participate in Service Plan Reviews, Treatment Team Meetings, and Family Team Conferences.*
- To participate in Transfer Conferences.*
- To formally review the plan for each child via the Family Team Conference, Treatment Team Meetings /Service Plan Review Update on a semi-annual basis.*
- To participate in In-Service Training.*
- To participate in Monthly Supervisor's Training Sessions and Staff Meetings.*
- To evaluate on an ongoing basis the performance of each Case Worker in the unit, sharing significant information with that worker and with the department Administrative Director and/or Foster Boarding Home Director when indicated.*
- To prepare formal evaluations of caseworkers after the initial 3 months of employment and annually thereafter.*
- To provide supervisory case coverage in the absence of the Case Worker.*
- To oversee both the accumulation and the ongoing usage of paid time off..*
- To supervise staff in time management to ensure effective use of time.*
- To conference and consult with other professionals both within and outside of the Agency when indicated.*
- Additional duties/responsibilities as required to meet the needs of the department/agency.
- To develop expertise in assessment tools and Evidence Based Models used by the program, including, but not limited to, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, and Partnering for Success.
Requirements:
- Master's Degree in Human Services and experience in child welfare system.
- Supervisory and managerial experience
