Position Information

Hiring Department : Human Resources

Hours: 40 hours per week, standard Monday- Friday 8:00am- 5:00pm

FLSA status: exempt

Salary: Commensurate with education and experience

Purpose of Position

Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Human Resources, serves as a member of the Human Resources (HR) leadership team and provides oversight and expertise for the compensation function for the University. This position manages the configuration of HR systems and applications to meet ongoing business needs; as well as develops reporting to support HR functions, including compensation and workforce analytics. The Director for Compensation leads the development, implementation, and administration of compensation programs, policies, and procedures; and administers common compensation functions, salary structure development and other associated initiatives.

Essential Functions

Leads the development, implementation, and administration of innovative compensation strategies, salary studies, programs, policies, and procedures.

Provides strategic guidance and direction on compensation, job models, in range progression, and other job compensation and classification changes.

Ensures base pay and compensation remain competitive and equitable, conform to current university compensation strategy, and align with market trends.

Works with upper leadership when implementing campus-wide programs for market increases, merit increases, equity programs, and other systematic compensation and classification actions within budgetary resources.

Oversees compensation and classification processes and tools, including survey participation, job evaluation and classification, salary structure development and other associated initiatives in compliance with university policies.

Manages the implementation of new and or revised job titles and qualification standards.

Leads data collection, complex analysis, and modeling for market, pay equity, and other compensation studies.

Creates and provides relevant reports, analysis, and recommendations to support data-driven strategic and tactical decision-making.

Develops and executes process improvements to streamline forms and processes and ensure efficiency.

Oversees the maintenance of accurate compensation and classification files.

Provide leadership and expertise in HR projects by preparing detailed analytical models and innovative recommendations.

Manages the university compensation plan and ensures appropriate classification for staff positions and consistency in classification decisions.

Evaluates pay level alignment based on external markets, internal equity and employee performance and provides consultation for organizational alignment projects.

Designs, maintains, and communicates pay structures and salary grades.

Creates and manages job descriptions and ensures that qualifications, work conditions, physical demands and other information are displayed accurately.

Performs job assessments for individual positions or departmental reorganization requests and provides recommendations on the job classification and salary structure.

Collaborates with other HR functional leaders in the delivery of core HR processes such as onboarding, hiring, timekeeping, and program implementations, including benefits, and compensation.

Recommends and develops process improvements, innovative solutions, and policy changes to enhance service delivery and data integrity.

Provides leadership, training, and guidance to direct reports.

Prepares mandatory reports for federal and state entities as requested or required.

Complies with all State and University policies.

Responsible for overseeing the compensation team.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Required Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university

and

Experience: Seven (7) years of relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience using PeopleSoft and/or compensation analysis software.

* Experience in higher education.
