The Department of Development Services (DDS), Northeast Region, is looking for a highly motivated Nurse Practitioner, who shall assist in assuring that all patient care is consistent with our mission, with the philosophy of nursing, objectives for patient care, and standards of care/practice as identified by Nursing Administration. This practitioner will develop, implement, and maintain a therapeutic milieu which is demonstrated through nursing leadership of clinical practice, supervision of patients and staff education. For more information about our agency and programs visit: This position participates in direct and indirect medical care and health maintenance. This role will also provide nursing services to clients within assigned areas and serves as a resource to unit staff in the planning, development, and evaluation of the medical care plan. As requested, the position will conduct audits and/or surveys. Additionally, the incumbent will function as a nurse responder for resident/staff medical emergencies. The position performs other required/requested duties. Specialized Administrative and Clinical Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive): * Treats all patients with dignity and respect through interactions which affirm the individual’s needs and preferences andby optimally integrating the patient perspective into all facets of care; will advocate for patients, facilitate timely resolution of patient concerns and assist patients in the exercise of their rights. * Participates in facility-wide medical supervision and assists in providing overall direction in the delivery of nursing/medical services by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing service delivery systems on the assigned division. * Completes daily medical rounds to manage both acute and chronic health conditions. * Actively involved in the screening and admission of both planned and emergency admissions to the Evaluation Stabilization Units. * Participates in the Psychiatric Medication Review Committee and in implementing emergency interventions to manage violent behavioral events. * Participates in and plans for discharge to community residential programs. * Assists in the provision of nursing care to individuals at the Evaluation Stabilization Unit. * Attends divisional and facility meetings and serves as a member of facility committees. * Participates in facility wide medical supervision. * Functions as first responder for all medical and behavioral emergencies and initiates CPR and first aid for acutely ill/injured people. * Assesses all acutely ill and injured people and work from protocols to determine treatment required. * This position assists in monitoring the status of residents and identifies people in need of Risk Management. *Please Note: * This position is located at the Hogan Regional Center in Danvers, MA. Schedule: Mon, Wed, Fri; 9am-5:30pm Tues/Thurs; 10am-6:30pm. 24-hour on-call coverage one week per month. Flexibility with work schedule will be required for this position. ALL EMPLOYEES ARE PAID ON A BI-WEEKLY BASIS AND MUST HAVE DIRECT DEPOSIT. Listed salary ranges are for one full year at current rates. Minimum Entrance Requirements: Applicants must have at least (A) three years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience as a registered nurse in a recognized hospital, clinic, or medical facility, or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below. Substitutions: I. A Graduate degree with a major in Nursing may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required experience. *Education toward such a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed. Special Requirements: Current and valid registration as a professional nurse under the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing. Current and valid authorization to practice as a Nurse Practitioner by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing.
