Description:
This is an entry-level position where initially the engineer has a low level of understanding of components and operating principles of parts items. The engineer is expected to carry out a strong work ethic to develop quality skills such as warranty part investigation, claims forecasting and prediction, and quality standard improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Over time the Level 1 quality engineer will learn how to:
- Inspects and validates products/warranty parts to ensure pre-determined quality standards are met.
- Plans activities concerned with developing, applying, and maintaining warranty parts quality standards.
- Complete basic check sheets regarding part functions to verify part performance.
- Monitors field claim trends.
- Maintain and develop job skills by seeking out and completing appropriate training.
Key Performance Indicators
- Perform 1st level analysis and duplication test for warranty parts / Perform basic checklist evaluations (60% Weight).
- Investigation of warranty parts and preparing reports.
- Register analysis result to NAQIS/QMS/JIRA system and ship the incident part to Korea for further investigation.
- Follow-up improvement on findings with HQ in Korea.
- Field claim status monitoring and major warranty parts retrieval.
- Search and retrieve defective warranty parts, utilizing NAQIS/QMS system
- Complete basic checklist evaluations.
- Promote claims improvement activities (20% Weight).
- Determine/estimate the root cause of failure (gather evidence and communicate details on the reproduction method).
- Judge additional investigation and improvement through the warranty part analysis and claim monitoring.
- Field issue investigations utilizing measurement tools (CANoe, scope, etc) (5% Weight).
- HMA/KMA dealer investigation on the field issue (Go & See).
- Participate in a joint vehicle test Alabama/Georgia plant support.
- Technical support for the in-line and field quality issues.
- Provide technical support to customers considering strategic response (HMA/KMA/NAQC/MAL/MAL-GA/MMX) (5% Weight).
- Participate in a joint vehicle test, and distribute results for the development of improvement plans.
- Respond to work-related customer requests including paperwork promptly.
- Annual Training Objective (minimum of 12 hours) (Weight 10%).
Work Schedule & Travel Requirements
- Monday through Friday, 8 am 5 pm.
- Minimal overnight travel (up to 10%) by land and air.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required. A degree in Electrical Engineering is preferable.
- 0-2 years of engineering experience.
- Utilize complex computer operations and advanced features of software packages.
- Deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
- Good communication skills.
- Intermediate PC skills are required in word processing and spreadsheets.
- Basic knowledge of electronic/mechanical components.
- Ability to read and understand electronic/mechanical schematics and block diagrams.
- Ability to use basic test equipment.
