Job description

This position is onsite, in-person, located at: DuPont Teijin Films, 3600 Discovery Drive, Chester, VA 23836

The Mechanical Engineer will provide support to a team of 16 mechanics and a mechanical supervisor in the maintenance and engineering department.

The Mechanical Engineer will generally work Monday- Friday during daytime hours.

However, the Mechanical Engineer will be on-call for emergencies approximately every 6 weeks.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
• 5 years of previous experience in Chemical Manufacturing, or a Manufacturing/Industrial environment.
• Preferred: Proficient in AutoCAD
• Preferred: Proficient in SAP software (System Analysis Program), or other ERP software (Enterprise Resource Planning).
• Preferred: Knowledgeable with Pressure Vessel Codes
• Preferred: Knowledgeable with American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Standards
• Requires in-depth conceptual and practical knowledge in own job discipline and advanced knowledge of related job disciplines.
• Has knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; is aware of the competition and differentiators in the market.
• Has built a detailed understanding of market, function, processes, and policies gained through multiple years of experience.
• Interprets and applies organizational policies; recommends changes/improvements to specialized processes and procedures.
• May have formal supervisory responsibilities, guiding and prioritizing the activities of individual contributors with similar responsibilities.
• Impacts a range of customer, operational, project or service activities within own team and other related teams.
• Works independently with minimal guidance, providing guidance to less senior team members.
• Assignments often require independent judgment and evaluation.

Engineering Group:

Performs engineering work in operations, production, construction, or maintenance environments. Designs and scales manufacturing processes, instruments and equipment and tests manufactured products to maintain quality. Plans, designs, and estimates time and cost and oversees construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, systems, and components. Analyzes and develops solutions to engineering problems related to manufacturing equipment and systems or the causes of component failures. Develops and applies engineering standards and procedures and provides advice on issues within the engineering field.

Mechanical Engineering:

Directs and coordinates the fabrication, installation, operation, application, maintenance, and repair of mechanical or electromechanical machines, equipment, tools, engines, and systems. Oversees installation, operation, maintenance and repair of equipment such as centralized heat, gas, water, and steam systems. Evaluates mechanical products to determine their cost effectiveness and efficiency. May evaluate field installations and recommend design modifications to eliminate malfunctions.

Experienced professional or supervisor with in-depth knowledge in a technical or specialized area, responsible for completing complex tasks requiring interpretation of policies and practices, under minimal supervision. May supervise employees, focus on task performance, and recommend improvements to the delivery of specialized processes.
