The Product & Data Engineering team is responsible for end-to-end development for Disney’s world-class consumer-facing products, including streaming platforms Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+, and digital products & experiences across ESPN, Marvel, Disney Studios, NatGeo, and ABC News. The team drives innovation at scale for millions of consumers around the world across Apple, Android, Smart TVs, game consoles, and the web, with our platforms powering core experiences like personalization, search, messaging and data.

Job Summary:

As a Lead Software Engineer, you will be part of a diverse and talented team working with modern server-side and web technologies such as HTML5, JavaScript, React, TypeScript and NodeJS that is focused on building and maintaining a highly scalable shared web platform.

Responsibilities:

• Architect and develop highly scalable and elegant solutions for core web platform
• Work closely with engineering teams across the company to accelerate adoption of shared solutions
• Define and implement best practices to continually increase performance and scalability
• Partner with other engineering teams to deliver best solutions
• Mentor and provide feedback to other engineers
• Research and evaluate applicable technologies
• Prototype new features

Basic Qualifications:

• Minimum 7+ years relevant industry experience
• BS Computer Science or related technical discipline or its equivalent
• Proven mastery of frontend web development technologies and principles
• Comprehensive knowledge of JavaScript, JS frameworks, and server-side templating
• Experience with modern JavaScript bundlers (Webpack, Vite, Rollup, etc.) and CSS Preprocessors (Less, Sass)
• Demonstrated ability to research and learn new technologies

#Disney Tech

The hiring range for this position in California is $149,300 - $200,200 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
