Job description
Job Summary:
Performs patient therapy treatments and related activities; performs radiation treatments in accordance with established protocols, assists the physicians in patient treatments, maintains patient records as required, assures that the patient's clinical history is complete, completes associated paperwork, performs QA/QC equipment tests, performs simulator procedures when required, maintains and adheres to accepted sterile techniques and provides clean environment within examination area, shares emergency call as required. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served; also demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed. Reports directly to the Chief Physicist and Radiation Oncology Manager.
Performance Expectations: - Radiation treatment setup and performance
- Proper operation of Linear Accelerators
- Fabrication of immobilization devices
- CT Simulation performance and operation
- IGRT application and performance
- IMRT application and performance
- Stereotactic Radiosurgery operation and performance
- Proper positioning of patients for treatment and simulation procedures
- Able to properly record treatment of patient's chart as required
- Understands departmental policy for reporting and recording errors in treatment set-up and appropriate
- action for correcting errors including reporting errors to chief physicist/staff physicist.
- Properly reviews patient chart prior to setup and understands patient positioning, collimator settings,
- SAD/SSD, and treatment technique
- Demonstrates knowledge of when physician is needed for patient treatment as dictated by protocol
- Demonstrates knowledge and proper protocol for irradiating blood.
Qualifications: Education/Skills: Graduate of an approved AMA school of radiation technology required.
Work Experience: One year experience desired.
