Job Title: Supplier Development Engineer
Location: On-site in Warren, MI
Salary: $90-$120k DOE
Requirements: At least 5+ years of progressive engineering and/or supplier development experience, Ability to understand engineering drawings and specifications, Lead auditor, green or black belt certification
We are a global automotive supplier of pump, valvetrain, transmission and electric drive components and systems. Due to company growth, we are adding a highly skilled and experienced Supplier Development Engineer to our brand new team. Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, experience with assessment and audits TS, ISO, VDA audit, APQP, PFMEA, Quality statistic, Control Plan and error proofing. Additionally, you must have the ability to travel both domestically and internationally without restrictions.

What You Will Be Doing
As the Supplier Development Engineer, you will be responsible for effective QM systems regarding product portfolio, current production programs and new program launches. You will support the product, process, and production requirements of externally supplied components, tools and equipment.
- Plan, support, and implement supplier development programs to identify risk and make improvements
- Conduct supplier related audits (IATF/VDA)
- Develops suppliers using core quality tools (Process Flow Diagrams, MSA, SPC, Control Charts, etc.)
- Apply knowledge of PPAP, SPC, MSA, APQP, GD&T, Six Sigma, Lean, VA/VE, Check Fixtures, Gage R7R, etc.
- Manage supplier root cause analysis and corrective actions
- Identify and assess potential suppliers, and participate in technical reviews
- Monitor supplier performance (incidents, PPMs) and develop and implement action plans for improvements
- Drive supplier quality and productivity improvements
What You Need for this Position
- BS in Engineering
- 5 years experience as Supplier Development Engineer in Automotive industry
- Must have the ability to understand engineering drawings and specifications
- Must have a demonstrated use of GD&T and 3D CAD models
- Experience with assessment and audits TS, ISO, VDA audit, APQP, PFMEA, Quality Statistic, Control Plan and error proofing, six sigma, lean manufacturing
- OEM/Tier 1/Tier 2 experience
- Certified lead auditor certification (ISO 9001 or similar)
- Green or black belt certification
- Knowledge of production machines and tools
- Lean concepts like Value Stream Mapping, preferred
- Electric components purchasing experience, highly preferred
- Must have the ability to travel unrestricted and with a valid passport in North America, Europe, India, China
