Seasonal (Summer) Lifeguard

Position Overview:
Join the Alper JCC Miami team as a Seasonal Lifeguard! We are seeking enthusiastic and qualified individuals to ensure the safety and well-being of our community members during the summer season. As a lifeguard, you will play a crucial role in creating a secure environment, promoting water safety, and providing assistance when needed.

Key Responsibilities:

• Vigilantly ensure the safety of all pool attendees, taking immediate action in lifesaving and first aid procedures when required.
• Enforce pool rules and regulations to maintain a secure and enjoyable environment.
• Conduct regular inspections of the pool area, identifying and addressing any potential hazards promptly.
• Assist in organizing and participating in water-related activities and events.
• Communicate effectively with pool attendees, addressing inquiries and concerns.
• Collaborate with the team to uphold a positive and inclusive atmosphere.

Qualifications:

• Current certification as an American Red Cross Lifeguard.
• Current Certification in American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer.
• First Aid certification is preferred.

Position Relationships:
Interact closely with internal and external stakeholders, fostering positive relationships with fellow lifeguards, facility staff, and the community.

Special Requirements and Physical Demands:

• Ability to engage in moderate physical activity, including lifting, carrying, and responding quickly in emergency situations.
• Comfortable spending extended periods outdoors and performing duties in a hot and humid environment.
• Strong communication skills and ability to enforce rules with professionalism.

Physical Demands:
Lifeguards must be proficient in swimming and demonstrate the ability to respond swiftly to emergencies. Specific vision abilities, including close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision, are essential.

Work Environment:
The role involves working in a hot and humid environment, necessitating the ability to enter the water for maintenance tasks. Lifeguards should be prepared to return to their post for an extended period, even in wet clothing.
