Job Description
At a glance:
Looking for detail oriented individual, in engineering, science, finance, or management, with strong math skills and with management aspirations (project management preferred) and good communication & soft skills to assist XC/PMO-NA team in generating, checking, and reconciling reports on development efforts and costs, and product profit and loss analysis, and other resource, budget, of other project performance related data. Additional duties include assisting XC/PMO-NA in ensuring communication and collaboration across multiple business units and support functions within XC-NA regional division.
- Intern will learn project management controlling and reporting from XC/PMO-NA team, who are designated specialists in this area.
- Intern will benefit from supervisor’s developed network and will be introduced to all the people and roles necessary or helpful to do the job
- While the focus of the intern duties is on “crunching a lot of data”, communications, and support of others, it also will provide such intern many insights into
- how business operates,
- how projects operate, are planned and managed
- what costs and cost levers one must be aware of,
- how development and production may influence each other,
- cost of quality
- securing cooperation and collaboration in a large global organization
- and many other aspects of business that will be helpful for aspiring managers (including project managers), entrepreneurs, economists, controllers, and many other related fields.
Duties include:
- Data analysis duties:
- Creating, checking, and reconciling reports on resources planning, actual use, costs, and projections
- Creating combinations of reports, presentations, and other aids to deliver targeted data and message to XC-NA management.
- Collaborate with Cost controlling (XC/CTG-NA group) on monthly and quarterly reports analysis and combination with other data to provide XC-NA leadership target data for business performance evaluation
- Collaborate with plants’ controlling (as needed) to add production data analysis
- Collaborate with XC-NA management to support their efforts in data entry and analysis for resources’ planning and controlling
- Process various databases queries supporting all the above
- Deliver presentations and support reviews of data.
- Communication, collaboration, and general duties:
- Updates of reports’ forms and templates
- Clarifying and follow-ups on tasks, reports, joined activities between XC/PMO-NA and others in XC division.
- Assist XC/PMO-NA management in preparing and conducting various workshops, training, coaching, and assessments.
- Assist in coordinating PM support efforts across business units and regions.
Qualifications
Basic:
- At least 2 years of college in math, science, engineering, or management field
- Math related courses at or above 3.0
- Has completed at or above B grade at least 2 of the following:
- Course(s) requiring extensive team work and collaboration
- Economy or finance course(s)
- Database, or large data processing/analysis related course
- Management course(s)
Desired:
- Some exposure to project management (could be from prior employment or internships, or from large school projects)
- Completed courses in all 4 categories above
- Working knowledge of PowerBI, Power Query, Tableau, or similar tools
- Demonstrated (through school projects or prior work assignments)
- Ability to use soft skills to secure collaboration and support of others
- Ability to analyze large and complex data
- Ability & developed strategies to learn quickly on the job
- Very detail oriented
- Striving for precision and excellence in work products
- Good verbal, written and presentation communication skills
Able to deal with multiple tasks and priorities
