Job Summary:
The Database Manager will be responsible for performing comprehensive database administration tasks to develop, field, and support local customer database applications on one (1) SQL server. This role involves providing essential services through the Installation Campus Area Network (ICAN), including database builds, reorganizations, maintenance, tuning, backups, restorations, and query design. In addition to these core responsibilities, the Database Manager will play a crucial role in ensuring the integrity, security, and performance of our database systems.

Job Responsibilities:
- Database Administration:
- Oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of efficient and secure database systems.
- Collaborate with software developers to design and implement database solutions that align with application requirements.
- Manage and monitor database performance, implementing changes and improvements as needed.
- Conduct regular database system audits to ensure data integrity, security, and optimal performance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database issues, including root cause analysis and preventive measures.
- Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and industry best practices.
- Service Provisioning through Installation Campus Area Network (ICAN):
- Perform database builds, reorganizations, maintenance, and tuning to optimize SQL server performance.
- Conduct regular backups, restorations, and implement disaster recovery strategies.
- Design and optimize complex SQL queries to support efficient data retrieval.
- Data Management:
- Implement and manage database file transfers using various protocols (FTPs), ensuring the secure and efficient exchange of data.
- Oversee data file manipulation, archiving, and coordination to meet organizational needs.
- Collaboration and Coordination:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand database requirements and align with the goals of local customer applications.
- Coordinate the implementation of necessary actions for service provisioning through the Installation Campus Area Network (ICAN).
- Security and Compliance:
- Implement and maintain robust database security measures to protect sensitive information.
- Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and industry standards.
- Stay current with advancements in database technologies and recommend improvements to enhance system efficiency and security.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Highschool plus 8 years' related experience supporting DoD or
- Associates / Bachelors / Masters (related field) plus 5 years' related experience supporting DoD.
- Proven experience in database administration with a focus on SQL server.
- Strong understanding of database architecture, design, and optimization.
- Proficiency in performance monitoring, tuning, and troubleshooting.
- Experience in backup and recovery strategies and disaster recovery planning.
- Solid understanding of data security principles and compliance requirements.
- Excellent coordination, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with Installation Campus Area Network (ICAN) and service provisioning processes.
- Current unexpired 8570 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II certification (one of the following):
- CCNA-Security or
- Security + CE or
- CySA+ or
- GICSP or
- GSEC or
- CCND or
- SSCP or
- IAT Level III certification is also acceptable (e.g. CASP+CE, CCNP Security, CISSP or Associate, CISA, GCED, GCIH, CCSP).
- Computing Environment Certification (at least one of the following:).
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate.
- Oracle Certified Professional (OCP): Database Administrator.
- AWS Certified Database - Specialty.
- MongoDB Certified Database Administrator.
- IBM Certified Database Administrator - DB2.
