Job description
Essential Functions:
Responsible for ensuring the daily operations of Point of Care Testing program in various clinical departments, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and promoting patient safety.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Follow POCT policies, procedures, and guidelines in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Assist on maintaining adequate supply of materials for test procedures and manages inventory.
- Maintains clear, real-time communications with leadership regarding issues, concerns and problems which may affect patient care or the operation of the department.
- Assist with regular audits and assist with validation of new and/or replacement POC devices.
- Perform quality control tasks and ensure accuracy and reliability of POCT results.
- Assist with preparation and maintaining documentation for inspections, certifications, and accreditations related to POCT.
- Able to adhere to all regulatory requirements for various authorities including but not limited to CAP, TJC and OSHA.
- Maintain competencies and continuing education.
- Proficient in using laboratory information systems and data management tools (RALS, LIS, etc.)
Minimum Education Required:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a chemical, biological or clinical laboratory science from an accredited institution.
- Foreign graduates require equivalency evaluation documentation.
- ASCP or equivalent certifications preferred.
Preferred:
- Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
