R&D - Engineering Intern
Riddell is seeking a Research and Development Engineering Intern with a passion for football and product development. As an R&D Intern, you will support Riddell Product Engineers in evaluating and developing world class protective products. We are looking for a detail-oriented, fast learner who is eager to help wherever needed. Position on-site Des Plaines, IL May-August. Local candidates encouraged to apply.
As an R&D Intern , you will…
- Perform Engineering Sample Evaluations on new and revised products to be sure that they meet print specifications
- Assemble and prepare helmet samples for lab testing
- Assist in the creation of rapid prototypes using in-house resources such as 3D printing
- Assist with various lab tests such as tensile/compression testing
- Prepare and modify 2D drawings from existing 3D part and assembly models
- Manipulate and modify existing 3D models with general verbal direction
Preferred Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in an engineering or science field
- Familiarity with SolidWorks, PTC Creo, or equivalent 2D/3D parametric modeling software
- Familiarity with FDM 3D printing
- Experience with shop tools such as drill press, band saw, etc.
- Experience with performing testing using standard lab equipment following established testing protocols
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and acute attention to detail
