Disney Consumer Products (DCP) Merchandise Planning Intern, Summer/Fall 2024
About the Role & Program
The Merchandise Planning Intern impacts the business by assisting in the execution of quarterly/annual assortment strategies. The Merchandise Planning Intern supports all day-to-day activities of analyzing item/category performance to optimize in-season opportunities and minimize liability. They identify stock concerns and proactively communicate to the Planner. The Merchandise Planning Intern assists, as needed to launch the product. The Merchandise Planning Intern must exhibit strong analytical, organization, and prioritization skills, as well as proficiency in all systems and processes related to planning.
What You Will Do
Support Merchandise Planner to develop item/category assortment plans that will improve sales and profitable returns on inventory levels. Communicate add/drop assortment changes to help advise future orders.
Review weekly sales performance and communicate recommendations to drive business performance.
Support leader with business insight and analytics to optimize in-season opportunities and minimize liability.
Partner with Merchandise Assistant to ensure all product releases are delivered on time and communicate any concerns immediately.
Partner with Location Strategy & Allocation to confirm all in-stock items are accurately set up and selling in all intended locations.
Assist in the preparation of presentations for leadership to outline program performance and future strategies
Proactively manage Planning tasks such as RTVs and price changes.
Identify stock concerns and proactively communicate action plans.
See opportunities to improve store performance through assortment changes.
Assist Planner and/or Planning Manager with special projects, as needed.
Support leader to achieve all financial objectives.
Understand and apply all tools to analyze business performance.
Walk stores regularly.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Business Objects, and Oracle Retail are essential
Strong financial and analytical skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills
High level of attention to detail; proactive with strong follow-through skills.
Proven strong organizational skills & time management skills with the ability to prioritize workload.
Ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to problem solve and meet adventurous deadlines.
High motivation and willingness to learn
Strong ability to collaborate with peers and partners.
Education
Currently enrolled undergraduate student in an accredited college/university, pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Business, Finance, Economics, Math, Merchandise Planning, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
Eligibility Requirements & Program Information
Must be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within 6 months at the time of application posting OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Professional Internship
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program.
Must possess unrestricted work authorization.
Additional Information
Ability to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship
This internship is a hybrid position and requires a working, reliable internet connection as well as a quiet, dedicated workspace
The approximate dates of this internship are June 2024 through January 2025
Ability to work full time hours (approximately 40 hours per week) Monday - Friday, for the duration of the internship with possible evenings and weekends if necessary
Must provide own housing for the duration internship program in the Orlando, FL area
Must have reliable transportation to/from work
