Position Summary:

Rutgers School of Dental Medicine ( RSDM ) is seeking a Certified Dental Assistant for the Department of Restorative Dentistry. This position will perform chair side and desk side duties within the Prosthodontics Postgraduate Program clinic. The person will assist during examination and treatment of patients and dispense dental materials and instruments. The Dental Assistant performs clerical, sterilizing and miscellaneous tasks for the program and serves as dispensary clerk on an as needed basis.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

• Takes, develops and mounts x-rays; maintains x-ray solutions and developer along with the maintenance of x-ray cleaning log.
• Charts examination under the direction of the doctor.
• Assists in implant procedures.
• Maintains inventory of implant components.
• Serves as backup sterilization assistant, cleans ultrasonic units as needed.
• Prepares clinical kits for students.
• Cleans up all discharged bodily fluid immediately.
• Prepares unit for provider and patient.
• Sets and drapes the patient to prepare for treatment.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
