Job description
Position Summary
LGBT Network is seeking a full-time Program Manager to deliver and grow social, support, empowerment, and education programs for LGBT people on Long Island. The Program Manager reports to the Director of Programs, Long Island Region, and is responsible for:
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Coordinate & Deliver Programs
- Oversee, manage, and deliver a variety of programs and events for LGBT youth, adults, older adults, families, and other community members, including but not limited to, regular programs, seasonal social events, cultural activities, and one-time special events.
- Supervise one full-time staffer, providing ongoing supervision and leadership for the program area.
- Schedule and deliver community education programs in schools and organizations.
- Coordinate and deliver school-based programs, such as leadership and empowerment programs for middle and high school students with their after-school GSA clubs. Participate in the planning of large-scale programs and events such as the annual LGBT Youth Conference and various Pride Initiatives
Conduct Outreach & Engagement Activities
- Conduct follow-up and program promotion via face-to-face, phone, e-mail, text, and digital platforms to new and existing constituents with the goal of engaging more people as participants in programs and events.
- Conduct community and school-based outreach activities to identify and engage LGBT people, including identifying new opportunities to engage LGBT youth into programs.
- Build relationships with community partners and represent the agency in local and regional meetings and community events.
Additional responsibilities
- Collect and track program participant utilization and demographic data, including data management, compilation of program reports, and assistance with grant and funder reports
- Field and respond to requests for information, referrals, and support
- Other duties as assigned
Qualification Requirements
- 5+ years relevant work experience and a Bachelors’ degree, or 3+ years’ experience and a Masters’ degree
- Experience in a non-profit setting; youth empowerment services; school-based outreach and education programs; and/or working with LGBT communities.
- Group facilitation.
- Strong public speaking, presentation, and networking skills
- Strong organizational skills, including event planning, with the ability to multi-task.
- Passion and motivation to be a part of the LGBT Network movement to help LGBT people to be themselves, stay healthy, and change the world.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred

- Flexible work schedule is a must, as this position requires working after-school and evenings and some weekends for in-person events, services, and outreach activities.
- Reliable public transportation and a valid driver license, as this position requires travel throughout Long Island
- Must provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination.
