Job description
Our client is a fast-growing publicly traded real estate acquisition firm located in Nassau County. They are seeking a Staff Accountant to work on their corporate side, handling cash transactions, updating schedules, and working with A/P and A/R.
This is a newly created position with a company that is actively acquiring new properties, has a history of stability, and can offer further growth opportunities.
Responsibilities:
- Handle daily cash transactions, including reconciling bank statements and ensuring accuracy in cash balances.
- Monitor and report on cash flow, identifying any discrepancies or irregularities.
- Update and maintain financial schedules, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare and post journal entries to accurately reflect financial transactions.
- Collaborate with the accounts payable team to process invoices, verify expenses, and manage payment disbursements.
- Work with the accounts receivable team to reconcile customer accounts, manage collections, and ensure timely receipt of payments.
- Assist in the month-end and year-end closing processes, including preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules.
- Ensure adherence to accounting standards, company policies, and relevant regulations.
- Assist in the preparation of documents and support audits by providing necessary information.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
- 1+ year’s prior work or internship experience in accounting.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
