Job description

The University of Dubuque is a growing faith-based University that is seeking a Medical Director for our Smeltzer-Kelly Student Health Center and Physician Assistant Program.

Primary Responsibilities:

Excellent interpersonal communication that enables adjustments to communicate with medical professionals, patients and suppliers.

Respond to time-sensitive messages (e-mail/phone/verbal) from healthcare professionals, facility staff, students and campus generally, including third party vendors.

Hold staff meetings to communicate policy or procedural changes within the department(s).

Excellent time management between administrative duties and engaging patients/employees.

Schedule maintenance repairs for the facility/medical equipment, order supplies, etc.

Manage the operational budget for SKSHC.

Ensure patient positive experience at all locations.

Must keep current and up-to-date on all appropriate agencies rules and regulations pertaining to these three departments.

Perform other duties as assigned in support of the University's Mission

Adept computer skills.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Impeccable presentation skills as a way of enhancing the success of the facility.

Interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills.

A profound understanding of mathematics, biology and anatomy.

Ability to manage the healthcare facility's budget.

Qualifications:

Required to be board certified and licensed in State of Iowa with an M.D. or D.O. degree.

At least 8 years of previous experience in a healthcare organization as a physician.

Experience in teaching, managing others, and budget management preferred.
