PROGRAM COORDINATOR / ASSISTANT DIRECTOR / ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR Asian American Cultural Center Program Coordinator Primary Position Function/Summary Reporting to the Director of the Asian American Cultural Center, the primary responsibility of this position is to assist in the development, implementation and coordination of education programs, services and activities for the AACC that educate and promote a campus-wide understanding of Asian/Asian American cultures and that enhance Asian American and Asian international students' experiences.
Duties and Responsibilities Cultural Programming
- Assist in developing programs that foster cultural awareness and social justice.
- Assist in developing programs that support Asian/Asian American students' experiences.
- Collaborate with campus and community partners to develop programs and services. Capacity-Building and Outreach
- Coordinate support for student organizations and student leadership development
- Serve on committees focused on enhancing Asian/Asian American students' experience on campus. Marketing and communications
- Assist in marketing and communication (eg, social media, electronic newsletter, website, calendars, tours, resource fairs). Supervision
- Assist in the recruitment and supervision of student volunteers and student staff. - Develop and promote educationally transformative programs that result in cultural awareness, enhance the Illinois Experience, and build appreciation for Asian/Asian American students and diversity in local and global contexts.
- Develop programs and events that highlight cultures around the world. Develop programs and events that support Asian/Asian American students' experiences.
- Collaborate with other units and campus-community partners to develop programs that encompass various intersecting identities (e.g., nationality, immigration, faith, gender identity, sexual orientation, ability status, multiracial experiences). Capacity-Building and Outreach
- Collaborate with other units, academic departments, and student organizations on programming, advising, leadership, and global perspectives development of all students.
- Serve on campus-wide committees, task forces, and work groups on campus and in the broader Urbana- Champaign community to enhance Asian/Asian American students' experience on campus. Marketing and communications
- Coordinate marketing and communication (eg, social media, electronic newsletter, website, calendars, tours, resource fairs). Supervision

Associate Director Primary Position Function/Summary Reporting to the Director of the Asian American Cultural Center, the primary responsibility of this position is to assist in provide supervision of the development, implementation and coordination of education programs, services and activities for the AACC that educate and promote a campus-wide understanding of Asian/Asian American cultures and that enhance Asian American and Asian international students' experiences. Duties and Responsibilities Cultural Programming

- Assist in obtaining funding support through co-sponsorships, grants, gifts, and through effective collaborations with OIIR leadership and the Student Affairs Advancement team. Capacity-Building and Outreach
- Collaborate with other units, academic departments, and student organizations on programming, advising, leadership, and global perspectives development of all students.
- Serve on campus-wide committees, task forces, and work groups on campus and in the broader Urbana- Champaign community to enhance Asian/Asian American students' experience on campus. Supervision
- Coordinate the recruitment, hiring, training, teaching, supervision, and evaluation of student staff.
- Provide professional learning experiences that enable student employees and to develop the personal and professional skills needed to thrive in a diverse society.
- In the absence of the Director, the Associate Director may assume responsibility and provide management for AACC operations. Assessment and Evaluation
- Maintain documentation on all events, including but not limited to: program sign-in sheets, assessments, photo albums, and video archives as part of AACC's assessment and success initiatives.
- Develop and maintain assessment and evaluation tools. Utilize emergent data to improve and expand services, educational opportunities, and to inform stakeholder's knowledge of AACC's progress.
- Oversee ongoing evaluation of programs and activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned. Additional Physical Demands
Office position that requires evening and weekend work hours, and some travel is occasionally required.
Program Coordinator Minimum Qualifications Education: - Bachelor's degree. Experience:
- A total of one (1) year (12 months) in education, training and/or work experience in the area of specialization inherent to the position. (Note: Master's Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience.)
- Demonstrated experience focused on Asian/American experiences.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating cultural, social, educational, and/or social justice programs. Preferred Qualifications Education:
- Master's degree, preferably in higher education administration, college student personnel, counseling, or related field. Experience:
- Experience supporting students and student organizations.
- Ability to demonstrate empathy, problem solving, professional boundaries, and conflict resolution skills.
- Experience with marketing and communications Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Demonstrated customer service skills, interpersonal and organizational skills. Assistant Director Minimum Qualifications Education:
- Bachelor's degree. Experience:
- A total of two (2) years of professional experience in higher education. (Note: Master's Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience.)
- Demonstrated experience with programs focusing on Asian/Asian American students' experiences.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating cultural, social, educational, and/or social justice programs.
- Demonstrated success of collaboration with key partners. Preferred Qualifications Education:
- Master's degree, preferably in higher education administration, college student personnel, counseling, or related field. Experience:
- Professional experience advising and creating leadership development opportunities for students and/or student organizations.
- Ability to demonstrate empathy, problem solving, professional boundaries, and conflict resolution skills.
- Experience in teaching and curriculum development. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Demonstrated customer service skills, interpersonal and organizational skills. Associate Director Minimum Qualifications Education:
- Bachelor's degree. Experience:
- A total of four (4) years of professional experience in higher education.
- Demonstrated experience with programs focusing on Asian/Asian American students' experiences.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating cultural, social, educational, and/or social justice programs.
- Demonstrated customer service and project management skills. Preferred Qualifications Education:
- Master's degree, preferably in higher education administration, college student personnel, counseling, or related field Experience:
- Experience teaching or studying abroad.
- Professional experience advising and creating leadership development opportunities for students and/or student organizations.
- Experience recruiting, hiring, training, teaching, supervising, and evaluation of student staff.
- Ability to demonstrate empathy, problem solving, professional boundaries, and conflict resolution skills.
- Experience in curriculum development.
- Experience in formative and summative evaluation.
- Experience with fund raising and grant writing. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Appointment Information This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5002 - Program Coordinator position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after 3/4/2024. Salary range starting at $50,000 for Program Coordinator, $52,000 for Assistant Director, and $68,000 for Associate Director, commensurate with experience.
