POSITION: Financial Aid Coordinator
CLASSIFICATION: Staff | Full-time
WORK WEEK: 40 Hours | Monday – Thursday 8:00a - 5:00p Friday 8:00a - 4:30p
Summer Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00a - 4:30p
REPORTS TO: Director of Financial Aid
The Financial Aid Coordinator, under the direction of the Director of Financial Aid provides financial aid counseling and administrative support duties to facilitate the operation of the office of Student Financial Services. The Financial Aid Coordinator assists in coordinating activities with other departments, outside agencies, and the campus community.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide exceptional customer service in all job functions/interactions
Help students and families navigate the Financial Aid process
Complete FAFSA Verification to ensure accuracy and completeness
Determine if families with special financial circumstances are eligible for additional aid through the appeal process
Coordinate Federal and Alternative loan programs
Assist students/ families in understanding and successfully managing loan obligations
Assist families/students with undergraduate parent and graduate student loan process
Student Loan Awarding
Loan certification
Track entrance counseling and MPN receipt
Track the federal cohort default rate
Responsible for staying current on financial aid policy changes and compliance
Complete FERPA training and maintain FERPA compliance
Assume additional duties as assigned by immediate supervisor(s)
QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION / EXPERIENCE):
Bachelor’s Degree and/or equivalent experience
Customer Service experience
Higher Education experience preferred
Workday Student experience a plus
SKILLS AND SPECIFICATIONS:
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) basic applications
Ability to learn technological applications
General office skills
Excellent communication skills
Ability to relate effectively with students, staff members, and office visitors
Ability to work in a fast paced, highly quality-focused service environment with excellent organizational skills and a professional manner
Ability to take directions and use independent judgment
Ability to work in a safe and secure work environment that may periodically have unpredicted requirements or demands
Ability to use small office equipment, including copy machines or multi-line telephone systems
