NOTE: This job is onsite at the Corpus Christi Refinery and will require relocation to Corpus Christi, Texas.
Job Responsibilities:
CITGO’s SIS Supervisor oversees SIS Engineers to ensure the safe and reliable management of SIS at the Corpus Christi Refinery throughout the entire SIS lifecycle. Additionally, the SIS Supervisor will help drive SIS excellence throughout CITGO by providing direction, resources, training, and driving SIS compliance.
- Ability to manage competency throughout the site by developing plans and training materials and identifying external training and certification needs related to SIS
- Participate in the CITGO SIS community to identify best practices, revise company standards, and discuss SIS issues to foster excellence in SIS management
- Develop site SIS standards, templates, documentation and tools to manage SIS information and ensure compliance of current and future SIS systems with the CITGO SIS standard PSM-002
- Supervise SIS Engineers including goal setting, training, and technical oversight
- Set the direction of the refinery efforts in implementing closure of SIS compliance gaps
- Assist with SIS Engineer responsibilities
Education / Experience Required:
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Chemical Engineering or other engineering related discipline.
- 8+ years of experience in Industrial Instrumentation
- 3+ years of experience working with Safety Instrumented Systems
- 5+ years of experience in the process industry (refining preferred)
- Active 3 rd party SIS certification from Exida (CFSE or CFSP), ISA, or TUV (FS Engineer)
- Experience with Distributed Control Systems
- Supervision experience (preferred)
- Valid Driver's License
- TWIC card
Eligibility Requirements:
The Maritime Transportation Security Act requires all persons who will need unescorted access to a regulated facility to have a valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC), issued in accordance with the rules established by the United States Coast Guard and the Transportation Security Administration. Candidates selected for employment must meet eligibility criteria to obtain a TWIC card.

- Act as the lead refinery resource for SIS related questions. Develop site SIS standards, templates, documentation, and tools to manage SIS information. Ensure compliance of current and future SIS systems with the CITGO SIS standard PSM-002.
- Supervise SIS Engineers including goal setting, training, and technical oversight. Provide technical support and direction in completion of SIS related tasks in other departments including Process Controls, Maintenance, Process Design, and E/I Capital Projects.
- Set the direction of the refinery efforts in implementing closure of SIS compliance gaps. Identifies, plans, and executes closure of SIS audit findings including Mechanical Integrity, PSM, and insurance risk.
- Share SIS Engineer responsibilities to assist with workload in a variety of areas: assisting HSSE, Maintenance, Operations, and Engineering throughout SIS lifecycle including participation in HAZOP, LOPA, FSA, design reviews, testing, troubleshooting, repair, turnaround scope development, performance tracking, RCFA/investigations, modifications, etc.
- Apply instrumentation and SIS expertise to instruments, logic solvers, valves, and other final elements in all job functions. Keep abreast of industry SIS topics including incidents, best practices, and standard changes. Translate this into useful improvements for CITGO.
- Technical authority for site standard on bypassing of SIS and other shutdowns. Engages outside resources such as SIS consulting firms and other engineering contractors to support SIS engineering efforts, as needed.
